HEADS POSITION In order to obtain high quality stitches the heads should be centered over
the clinchers. The easiest way to center the stitch heads is
1.
Loosen the Stitch Head Lock Knob on the back of each head. (21)
2.
Slide the stitch head drivers (20) out of the way after unlocking them with the "T" wrench.
3.
Move the head so there is a 3mm gap between the side of the stitch head and the inside
of the operator's side head stop on each clincher. The easiest way to verify this is to
release the head stops and use the 3 mm "T" wrench as a gage. When the heads are in
the proper location lock in place (21).
4.
Re-engage and lock the Stitch Head Drivers (20).
EJECT ROLLER (only on AGR–T) The Eject Roller must be positioned over the center of the
sheet for proper ejection of the stitched set from the AGR-T to the PAS-T. A scale is provi-
ded to assist in locating the eject rollers. Loosen the locking lever (22) and slide the Eject
Roller Assembly to the desired location and lock in place.
BACK JOGGER With a sample sheet placed on the stitch plate set the position of the upper
section of the stitcher to achieve proper jogging of the set. Loosen the Stitcher Transport
Lock (16) and rotate the Stitcher Transport Knob (15) to position the stitcher so the
sample sheet is firmly against both the head stops and the collator backjogger without
any buckling of the sheet. Lock the Stitcher in place (16).
STITCH LENGTH Refer to the section on stitch heads for length adjustments.
CORNER OR HEAD STITCHING
RECEIVING TRAY Disconnect the PA–S/PAS–T and the TR–P/TR–T from the
AGR–P/AGR–T if the machine was set for saddle stitching. Use caution when moving the
machine and remember to disconnect all interface cables. Attach the Receiving Tray to
the rear of the intermediate tray with the two thumb screws provided or to the Receiving
Tray Support if the system does not have a PA–S/PAS–T. Attach the tray bale (illustrated
pg. 6) to the eject roll solenoid housing. When stitching sets longer than 297 mm (11") or
thicker than approximately 22 sheets it may be necessary to remove the intermediate tray
section from the machine. The tray is secured to the AGR–P/AGR–T with 4 each 4 mm
screws. After removing the screws and side jogging arms, gently slide the intermediate
tray away from the stitcher. Caution: there is a six pin cable that must be unplugged as the
tray is being removed. The receiving tray mounting plate is then secured in place with the
four screws and the cable plugged in to the receptacle.
PAPER STOPS Engage the head stitch paper stops by positioning the selector switch (7) to
the left. If the machine is equipped with an intermediate tray verify that the Saddle Stitch
Stops are locked down. Hold the Stop Retraction Switch (24) in and engage the Saddle
Stitch Lock with the 3 mm "T" wrench. It is helpful to position the saddle stitch stops in the
5"-6" position, This will ensure the Paper Stop Hold Switch will keep the stops down as
the set transfers from the stitcher. If the switch is too far to the right, the stops may not
return in time causing sets to be stitched in the wrong location.
CORNER STITCHING To disengage a stitch head for corner stitching, loosen the Stitch Head
Driver (20) and slide out from behind the stitch head. The Driver should be locked in place
with the 3 mm "T" wrench. The set up procedure for the stitch plates, side joggers, stitch
heads, clinchers, and eject roller are the same as saddle stitching. Refer to the saddle
stitch set up for details.
