8.4 Planar surface gantry assembly with spindle axis and pneumatic gripper

The planar surface gantry's pneumatic gripper (4) grasps the workpiece from the holding unit (2). In the
Store operating mode, the planar surface gantry (3) transports the workpiece to the closest empty location
on the respective storage level (1) depending on the measurement results. In the Issue operating mode, the
workpiece is transported to a downstream station upon receipt of a material requisition.
Linear motion of the planar surface gantry is driven by electric positioners which are operated by a
controller.
