When fully charged, the indicator lamp on the charger turns
green.
As long as the ceiling hoist is not in use, leave the hand control
in the charging station.

To use the ceiling hoist, remove the hand control from the
charger.
Keeping the batteries charged guarantees hoist functionality
and maintains the battery to ensure a long lifetime.
If the audible indicator beeps and the blue indicator on the
hoist flashes after the hoist has been fully charged and only
been in use for a short period of time, the battery may need
exercise or replacement. See 9.5 Battery Maintenance, page
25.
If the ceiling hoist will not be used for more than 4 weeks,
Invacare recommends disconnecting the charger and pulling
the emergency stop.
The charger is connected to the mains with a mains plug.
Make sure that the mains plug is accessible and can be
unplugged if required.

5.5 Using the external back-up battery

If the ceiling hoist has to be used immediately with its battery
discharged, an external back-up battery can be used.
Use the external back-up battery only as an exception and
when absolutely necessary. The external back-up battery
is available as an accessory.

Insert the plug of the external back-up battery A into aperture

B underside of the hoist. The external back-up battery should
hang freely during patient transfer.

Operate the ceiling hoist as described in chapter 5.2 Operating
the ceiling hoist, page 13.

Recharge the external back-up battery in order to have it fully
charged for the next usage.
Charging the external battery:
1.
Place the plug in the charger socket (a special adapter is
necessary).
2.
The LED light turns green to indicate the unit is fully charged
(approx. charging time 2 hours).

5.6 Emergency stop

The emergency stop function is used to stop the patient from
lowering or lifting if the ceiling hoist does not stop or react to the
hand control.
