6.4.2 Grinding a rail head

Proceed as follows to grind a rail head:
1. Hold the machine firmly on the operating frame
and lower the grindstone until it grinds the rail head.
For this proceed as described in Chapter 6.4.1 "Adjust-
ment of the grindstone".
2. Move the complete machine to right and left until the
grinding in the grinding position at the set inclination
angle is finished.
NOTE

6.4.3 Adjustment of the inclination angle

1. Hold the machine firmly on the operating frame

tank is completely empty. Instead
fill in more fuel when the fuel level
is low in order to ensure a long
life for the machine and to avoid

6.4.4 Replacing a grindstone

If the grinding result is unsatisfactory, it may be necessary
to replace the grindstone. One grindstone lasts for the grind-
ing of approx. 30 to 50 welded joints.
NOTE
1. Switch off the machine and allow sufficient cooling
time to pass.
CAUTION
2. Place and put down the machine in a secure horizontal
position.
3. Bring down the grindstone as far as possible to expose
the old stone.
4. Use the special M24 wrench supplied with the machine.
. Insert it in the horizontal slot until it reach the stone
shaft. Rotate the grindstone until the tool can match
the shaft and consequently holt it as a counter holder
and unscrew the used grindstone anti-clockwise (see
Figure 24 "Replace the grindstone").
5 Install the new grindstone and fix it again using the
special M24 wrench as counter holder and screw on
the grindstone clockwise until it is fixed.
Do not overrun the replacement
interval. If the grindstone is not
changed in time, there is the
danger that it may break during
operation and damage other
machine parts.
Danger of burns.
After operation the grindstone
can be very hot. Contact with
the grindstone can lead to skin
burns.
– Avoid contact with the grind-
stone shortly after operation.
– During operation always wear
protective gloves and protective
clothing.
