11.1 Impedance Probe maintenance

Ensure the probe is clean prior to use or calibration. Cerumen may have entered the probe tip and
should be removed. To remove wax, the conical end to the probe may be unscrewed. Cerumen may
also have entered the probe tubes. To clean the tubes, carefully remove them from the probe body.
Do not pull the tubes from the adaptor, hold the adaptor base firmly (as shown in the diagram).
In this case, unscrew the conical part of the probe and remove any earwax from it.
Earwax may also have penetrated in the probe tubes which are visible after removing the conical part.
The two tubes administer the probe signals.
In order to clean the tubes, remove them from the probe body by pulling them out (please note that
the two tubes are fixed on a base adapter which will be removed with them). Do not remove the
adapter pulling the tubes. Use your fingers to pull the adapter.
