Correlation
It is possible to define the minimum acceptable reproducibility value, or the correlation between the
signals of the A and B buffers. The value can be set between 50 and 90% in steps of 10 or OFF in case
you do not wish to consider this parameter.
A maximum of 3 protocols of predefined values can be saved by keeping the numbered fields on the
right side of the screen pressed for a few seconds and until they turn green

4.9 DPOAE

The DPOAE (Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions) test is performed by simultaneously
presenting two tone stimuli to the aim of evoking non-linear cochlear responses generating a new
frequency. The variations of the two primary frequencies kept at a constant ratio allow to investigate
the cochlear functionality and to create a graph, similar to an audiometry, called DP-gram.
Otoacoustic emissions prove a good mechanical functionality of the outer hair cell synapses and of
the related structures, however, the information they can provide with reference to the functionality
of the internal hair cells is less precise.
DPOAEs can be detected in individuals with hearing threshold up to 35-10 dB HL.
Test performance
Switch the device on and press DPOAE (see picture beside) on the main page to open the
test function.
The main screen displays a DP-gram where the x-axis represents the reference frequency (f2) and the
y-axis the detected OAE level expressed in dB.
Press R (right) or L (left) to switch the ear to be tested.
Press START to start the test.
Press PAUSE to interrupt and resume testing.
