c) Attaching the mast
Important! The directions of the compass (N, S, E and W) are marked on the base of the wind speed
sensor. When securing the outdoor sensor in place, use a compass to ensure that the "N" marking points
exactly north. If you do not have a compass, refer to a map to obtain your approximate bearings. Note
that the magnetic and geographic north poles are slightly different. This difference is called magnetic
declination. Local declinations are marked in isogonic or aeronautical charts, which you can use to align
the sensor exactly for your location.
If the "N" marking does not point to geographical north, the wind direction displayed on the weather station
will be incorrect.
• Insert the rain funnel (F) into the bayonet mount on the outdoor sensor. Align the
funnel with the three grooves and ensure that it is vertical.
• Turn it clockwise until it clicks into place.
• Attach the mast mounting bracket (round tube) to a vertical mast, pipe, tower
or wall fixture. For more information on suitable mounting locations and safety
information, refer to section 8 ("Initial setup and mounting").
• The mast mounting bracket (H) should be attached to a round tube with a
maximum diameter of 50 mm. Use the round tube provided (approx. 30 mm in
diameter) or another suitable metal pipe.
• Insert the outdoor sensor with the mast mounting bracket (H) onto the tube and
ensure that it is level.
• Use the circular spirit level (D) to ensure that the outdoor sensor is level. The
bubble should be in the centre of the circle.
