5. COMMANDS AND CONTROL INSTRUMENTS

(Fig.10)
GB
A) Steering wheel
Turns the front wheels.
B) Accelerator lever / choke
This regulates the engine's rpm. The positions are indicated on
a label showing the following symbols:
STARTER position for cold starting,
SLOW position for minimum engine speed,
FAST position for maximum engine speed.
When moving from one area to another, put the lever in a position
between SLOW and FAST. When cutting, shift into FAST.
C) Parking brake lever
This lever stops the machine from moving when it has been
parked and must always be engaged before dismounting the
machine.
The brake is applied by pulling the lever towards the operator
(position A) and then moving it to the left. To disengage the
parking brake, move the lever to the right (position B).
D) Ignition key switch
This key control has four positions:
OFF OFF position: means everything is switched off,
R
REVERSE MOWING position: activates all accessories and
enables mowing in reverse,
1
ACC position: activates all accessories,
ON START position: engages the starter motor. From this
position, when the key is released it will automatically
return to the ACC position (1).
E) Pilot lamp and indicators (only on models that are so
equipped)
This lamp comes on when the key is in the ACC position (1) and
remains constantly lit while the machine is operating. When it
starts flashing this means that the engine is being prevented
from starting. The engine stops when:
Alarm 1 (1 flash) - The grass-catcher is lifted or the stone-
guard is removed when the blade is engaged.
Alarm 2 (2 flashes) - The operator leaves his seat while
continuing to press one of the speed adjustment pedals.
Alarm 3 (3 flashes) - The operator leaves his seat without
pressing one of the speed adjustment pedals, but without
engaging the parking brake.
Alarm 4 (4 flashes) - The parking brake is engaged without
having disengaged the blade.
Alarm 5 (5 flashes) - The reverse speed adjustment pedal is
pressed without turning the key to R (reverse mowing) when
the blade is engaged.
Alarm 6 (6 flashes) - Pressing the speed adjustment pedals
with the parking brake engaged.
When the grass-catcher is full with the blade engaged, a
continuous beep will be emitted.
The conditions required for starting the machine are:
1) Speed adjustment pedals (forward or reverse drive) not
pressed.
2) Blade engage control disengaged (STOP position).
3) Operator seated or parking brake activated.
If one of these conditions is not met the engine will be
prevented from starting and the pilot lamp will flash.
F) Blade brake and engagement button
This button has two positions as shown on the label:
STOP position = Blade disengaged
24
START position = Blade engaged
If the blade is engaged when safety conditions have not been
complied with, the engine shuts down. On disengaging the
blade (STOP pos.) a brake is simultaneously activated which
stops it rotating in five seconds.
G) Cutting height adjustment lever
There are seven positions for this lever shown as 1 to 7 on the
label, which correspond to various heights of between 30 to 80
mm. To switch from one height to another, move the lever
sideways and position it in one of the seven notches.
WARNING: Do not leave the lever positioned between two
notches. Risk of sudden movement of the cutting deck.
H) Speed adjustment pedals
The function of the accelerator lever (B) is to modulate the
engine rpm; the revolutions increase gradually when the lever
is moved in the FAST direction and decrease when the lever is
moved in the SLOW direction.
The two speed adjustment pedals regulate the machine's
ground speed both in forward drive (H1) and in reverse drive
(H2), also depending on the position of the accelerator lever.
WARNING: The machine must be stopped before
reverse can be engaged.
L) Lever to release the hydrostatic drive
This lever is located near to the rear wheel and has two
positions shown on a label:
Position A: Drive engaged, for all operating conditions, when
moving and during cutting;
Position B: Drive released, enables the machine to be moved
when the engine is switched off.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the transmission unit,
the lever engagement/release operation must only be
carried out when the engine has stopped and the
parking brake is on.
6. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
