4.9 Starting the therapy and seal level

the right at the bottom of the screen. It serves as a guide for how tightly the dressing is sealed.
Regular patient monitoring
• Careful and regular patient monitoring is absolutely essential, particularly
in patients with heavily exuding wounds, wounds with viscous or heavily
sedimenting exudate and at risk of severe bleeding (see precautionary
measures in Section 1.4.3).
• In this situation, special attention should be given to exudate accumulated
in the wound dressing and the correct positioning of the wound dressing.
• The monitoring interval must be determined based on the wound situation,
the patient's general condition and the sensitivity settings.
If bleeding occurs
The Suprasorb CNP P3 was designed to generate negative pressure
®
in the wound drainage system and to suction exudate.
• The Suprasorb CNP P3 was not designed to detect heavy bleeding
®
or pooling of blood in the wound.
• For this reason, you should not rely on the Suprasorb
system alone. The therapy must be regularly monitored and the exudate
regularly checked for red discolouration so as to identify any risk of severe
deterioration in the patient's condition.
• Should you observe bright red blood in the tubes or exudate pouch,
the therapy must be discontinued immediately. Leave the wound dressing
in place at first, stem the bleeding and seek medical assistance.
Interruption of therapy
• Should it prove necessary to interrupt the therapy and switch the
Suprasorb CNP P3 to Pause mode, this interruption should not be

for longer than two hours at a time within a period of 24 hours.
The therapy must be continued after max. two hours. If the therapy
is interrupted for longer than two hours, the dressing must be changed
before it can be restarted.
