If a metal object is detected in metal detection mode, the symbol for the material
type will increase in size as the device approaches the object. Refer to the
"Meaning of detection symbols" section for more information.
Mark the location of the concealed object using a pencil (for smooth surfaces,
use a marker pen). You can determine the approximate shape of the hidden
object by moving the sensor and marking several points on the surface.
Electromagnetic signals (such as Wi-Fi, UMTS, aviation radar, radio transmitters
and microwave ovens) may impair the detection function. If possible, turn off all
sources of interference before using the device.
Tips for using the detection function
1
A range of environmental factors may prevent the device from calibrating
automatically. This may result in false detection. If this occurs, calibrate the
device manually. To calibrate manually, press the wood detection button (1) and
wait until calibration is complete. The LCD display (10) will appear as shown in
section 7 "Calibrating in non-metallic detection mode".
If the device was calibrated over a wooden object, move the device out of the
wooden object's detection area and try again.
If you receive incorrect scan results, this may be due to moisture in the wall or
recently applied paint or wallpaper which is not completely dry. This moisture
may not be visible to the naked eye, but it may interfere with the detection
function. Walls must be left to dry for a few days before you can achieve reliable
detection results.
