c) Turning the detector on/off
Before switching on the laser measurement and detection device, make
sure that the sensor area on the bottom of the product is not damp. If
necessary, wipe the sensor area dry using a suitable lint-free cloth.
If the laser measurement and detection device has been subjected to
a change in temperature, wait until the device has adjusted to the ambient
temperature before switching it on.
Press the on/off button (2) briefly to switch on the laser measurement and
detection device. If voice prompts are switched on, the current test mode will
be stated in a voice prompt after a short self-test. The laser measurement and
detection device is now ready for use.
Press the metal/AC voltage detection button (3) to switch to metal detection
mode.
If the sensor detects something and displays the detection symbol for steel,
copper or stainless steel, despite there being no detection objects in the vicinity,
the device must be calibrated. Refer to "Calibrating in metal detection mode".
If no buttons are pressed and no objects are detected for 5 minutes, the device
will automatically switch off to conserve battery power.
d) Locating objects
Due to its design, the device may not be able to detect all hidden objects.
To eliminate hazards, refer to building plans, photos and other sources of
information before drilling, sawing or milling into walls, ceilings or floors. Precise
detection can be hindered or distorted by a range of environmental factors.
These include magnets, moisture, metallic building materials, metal foils on
insulating materials, or conductive wallpaper with metal pigments.
Place the device as close as possible to the surface you want to inspect and
move it slowly in the direction of the x and y-axis.
If the sensor area approaches a non-metallic object when the device is in
non-metallic detection mode, the number of bars in the bar graph display will
increase. When moved away from the object, the number of bars will decrease.
The number of bars reaches the maximum level when the sensor is placed over
the middle of the detected object. If the detected object is located beneath the
sensor area, the "Centre" icon will appear.
