These volumes are collected in 9 ml sterile blood extrac-
tion tubes, containing sodium citrate at 3.8% as an anti-
coagulant.
Centrifuging the blood
To centrifuge the blood fractions, use the same citrate tu-
bes used to draw the blood.
Follow the instructions in section 3.2.1 to load and balan-
ce the rotor correctly.
Start up the centrifuge by following the instructions in
section 3.3.1 Start-up.
Once the centrifugation process has ended, remove the
tubes and place them in a rack for subsequent processing
according to the instructions for use of the BTI Tubes or
any other PRGF- ENDORET® technology available.
Work cycles:
The work cycles are factory set so you do not have to se-
lect the parameters in each case; you do not even have to
save them in the memory.
Low-power mode:
This operating mode automatically switches of the ma-
chine to save energy. After 5 minutes without operation,
such as pressing the screen, closing the cover, etc, the
screen will turn itself off, and the centrifuge will remain
on stand-by. To reset the centrifuge, simply press any icon
on the keypad.
OPENING THE COVER MANUALLY
This may only be used when unpacking or transporting
the centrifuge, in the event of a power cut or failure of the
automatic opening system. On the left side, next to the
caution label, there is a recessed plastic screw that, when
extracted, activates the emergency or manual opening
system. Unscrew it with a Phillips screwdriver.
DANGER: In the event of a power cut, use this emer-
gency or manual opening system. To use it, you must
be sure the rotor has stopped completely.
Never use it as a normal method of opening.
CENTRIFUGING DANGEROUS MATERIALS:
This centrifuge is designed with an air circulation system.
This system consists of evacuating air absorbed inside the
centrifugation chamber out of the unit. As a consequence
of this the air emitted could be hazardous if the substance
centrifuged is dangerous.
When maintenance or repairs must be performed on the
centrifuge or any of its accessories, they must be cleaned
and decontaminated, as described in section 4.2 of this
manual.
BIOLOGICAL RISK
If you have to process blood from patients with infectious
pathologies, you must be informed of the possible conta-
mination and the danger that handling it entails.
Take the necessary precautions and use suitable decon-
taminating products, to protect yourself from contamina-
tion.
SECTION IV: MAINTENANCE
This chapter describes the routine maintenance proce-
dures, both mechanical and electrical, that must be ca-
rried out periodically, to maintain the safety of the unit.
It is your responsibility to carry out the following proce-
dures when necessary, and keep the centrifuge in good
working condition to ensure the accuracy of the results. If
you need the electrical and/or electronic diagrams for the
correct maintenance of the unit or if, in future, you need
our technical service, contact BTI.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
This type of operation must always be carried out by spe-
cialised personnel authorised by the BTI Technical Service.
If the centrifuge has been used with pathogenic materials
and requires revision by the technical service, the user
must complete the procedure for cleaning to ensure the
safety of all staff before performing any repair or mainte-
nance work. In the event that the technical service uses
