Preface

This chapter gives an overview of the user documentation and the conventions used in
the documentation.

Documentation Overview

For the R&S ETC, the following product manuals are provided:
● Getting started
This manual is delivered with the R&S ETC in printed form and in PDF format on the
CD-ROM. It provides the information needed to set up the R&S ETC and start
working with it. Also a sample application is described. For instructions on
installation, refer to the release notes. The printed getting started manual also
includes general information, e.g. the basic safety instructions.
● User manual
This manual is delivered with the R&S ETC in PDF format on CD-ROM. It provides
the necessary information to work with the R&S ETC. For additional information on
default settings and parameters, refer to the data sheet.
● Remote control
This manual is delivered with the R&S ETC in PDF format on CD-ROM. It describes
the operation of the R&S ETC by means of remote control. This option comes by
default in the basic device.
Conventions Used in the Documentation
Key names and all names of graphical user interface elements are written in capital
letters.
When describing how to operate the R&S ETC, several alternative methods may be
available to perform the same task. If possible, the procedure using the front panel is
described. The terms "select" and "press" may refer to any of the described methods,
i.e. using the keys on the R&S ETC or on a keyboard, or a mouse pointer in the display.
