Safety

The appliance is adjusted and sealed in the factory, according to the category given
on the specification plate and according to the proper nominal load. Check to see if
the data on the specification plate correspond with the local gas type and pressure,
and with your installation type.
The fireplace must be installed, commissioned and checked by a qualified installer,
who is also well informed about the nationally and locally applicable standards and
regulations.
The installer must check the unit for leaks in the gas supply line and flue gas ex-
haust line. Also, the working of the adjustment valve, the thermocouple circuit and
the lighting of the burner must be checked.
When the unit is put into service, let your installer inform you about its use, opera-
tion and maintenance.
The unit has been developed for heating purposes. This means that all surfaces,
including the glass, can become very hot (> 100°C). An exception to this is the con-
trol door on the front and the control knobs.
Because of the natural convection of the fireplace, extremely hot air can be circ u-
lated through the convection openings on the top of the unit. To avoid damage
from overheating, care must be taken to place ade quate insulation between the unit
and the mantel during installation.
The unit must always be insulated with non-combustible material.
Do not place any curtains, clothes, laundry, furniture, or other flammable materials
close to the unit. The minimum safe distance is 100 cm.
It is advisable, after the fireplace is installed, to allow it to burn at its highest level
for a few hours while at the same time providing good ventilation. This is to ensure
that the protective oil on the interior of the fireplace has the opportunity to evapo-
rate, and that the heat resistant paint has the chance to cure. Some white residue
may appear on the glass and on the interior during this initial period. This residue
can be easily removed with a cloth as soon as the unit has cooled off.
Because a fireplace is a heat source that provides for air circulation in the room, it is
important that you do not burn the fireplace soon after renovating. The natural air
circulation causes moisture and uncured paint to be drawn in, which will accumulate
above the unit.
Always turn off the shut-off cock when the unit is not in use.
Broken glass must be replaced before the unit is returned to operation.
If gas is smelled, close the main gas shut-off valve immediately, open windows and
avoid using fire or electrical contacts (switches). Always call a specialist to find any
gas leak.
