Foreword

These installation directions and instructions for use accompany this appliance. Also
included with this manual is a section on advice concerning safety and maintenance.
Read this booklet carefully before attempting to install or use the unit.
Save this booklet for passing on to subsequent users.

Introduction

This roomsealed gas fireplace has been developed to be placed in a living space and
must be used exclusively in c ombination with connection options from Metaloterm
US. Thanks to itsconcept it is also possible to place the fireplace in airtight and re t-
rofitted homes.
The unit must not simply be connected to an existing smoke exhaust or chimney. In
some cases, however, an existing chimney or smoke exhaust can be used as an ac-
tive element in the installation. See the installation instructions for further details.
The unit is equipped with a closed combustion chamber and must be installed as a
roomsealed unit. The combustion gasses are drawn away to the outside through a
combination intake/exhaust by the natural draught of the unit. The same natural
draught draws in the air necessary for combustion. The Metaloterm US system of
concentric pipes can be supplied with a wall vent sleeve (horizontal terminal) or with
a roof vent sleeve (vertical terminal).
The total permissible length of the pipe system is limited, both vertically and hori-
zontally. Before beginning with the installation of the unit you must first check if the
pipe path required for your installation is technically possible. In connection with
this, see chapter 3.3, "Installation of the Metaloterm concentric pipe system".
In order to maintain the natural draught, it is necessary to install at least one metre
of concentric pipe, vertically, before connecting the horizontal terminal or vertical
terminal.
The accessories for the concentric pipe system such as terminals, pipes and elbows,
clamps and brackets, can be ordered in the quantities desired from your dealer.
Details about the available accessories are listed in annex.
The exhaust system and the outlet must conform to locally applicable regulations.
This appliance is a roomsealed unit, type C11 or C31 (depending on whether wall or
roof terminal is chosen).
The natural draught makes it necessary for the intake and the exhaust to be located
in the same pressure area. Use of the concentric pipe system automatically fulfils
this demand.
