5.6 TRIMMER CONTROL

The trimmer height, with respect to the board thic-
kness, is automatically adjusted when the feeder is
adjusted (see section 5.3.2).
The function of the trimmer unit is to trim away excess
from the edge on both sides of the board.
Depending on the type of finish being applied to the
edge, and in order to make it easier to adjust the trimmer
and select the type of bit to use, an instruction plate has
been included on the machine, which is also shown in
figure 28.1 of this manual, for your guidance.
Removing the scrapers: Before proceeding to
adjust the trimmer, it is necessary to remo-
ve the scrapers so that they do not interfere
with the process. To remove them, follow the
instructions in section 5.5: Scraper control.
Check the bits: Before proceeding with the trimmer ad-
justment, make sure that the bits mounted on the machi-
ne are appropriate for the finish that you wish to apply

to the edge. If they are not, replace them, following the
instructions in section 7.2 CHANGING THE EDGE TRIM-
MER BITS, in this manual.
The machine leaves the factory with R. 2 and 10º bits
(top bit 8540183 and bottom bit 8540184), and with
the trimmer set for these bits, and for a 2 mm edge.
In other words, with the three counters in the table
(Fig. 28.1) set to "0."

5.6.1 Trimming bit control

To adjust the position of certain bits, digital bit position
counters B (Fig. 28.2) must be set to the value shown in
column B of the table (Fig. 28.1) for these bits, keeping in
mind the following instructions:
Use knobs A (Fig. 28.2), accessible from the rear of the
machine, to bring the bit closer or move it farther away
from the board, positioning it at the value shown in the
table.
