4.5.3 Testing the electrical connections

If by mistake a phase and a neutral are re-
versed during the electrical connection, or
the neutral is not connected, situations may
occur that are dangerous to the operators
and that might result in irreparable damage
to the machine (motors, glue heating ele-
ments, etc.).
Under no circumstances should the neutral
be earthed.
In order to find out whether the connections have been made
correctly in the three-phase version, proceed in the following
manner:
• With main switch A in the (I) position:
• Turn switch B clockwise (TRIMMING ONLY POSITION).
• Press button C (START), and the feeder and trimmer motors
will start immediately (Fig. 19.1).
• In the rear of the machine (without opening door D), make
sure that trimmer belt E turns clockwise, as shown in figure
19.2.
If it turns in the opposite direction, press button F (STOP)
(Fig. 19.1), disconnect main switch A and the machine from
the power supply, and reverse two of the three phases on the
terminals (R-S-T) (Fig. 17, page 17).
• Start again from the beginning, checking once again.
If the belt turns anti-clockwise the glue will
overflow the glue pot and the machine can
be SERIOUSLY DAMAGED.
