Comply with all the information given the operating
manual, making sure that the instructions are
followed.

2.1 Appropriate Use

„ The mode 2 charging cable is intended solely for the
charging of electric and hybrid vehicles at plugs and
socket outlets for domestic or industrial use (e.g.
SCHUKO®, CEE devices).
„ The charging cable is suitable for the "mode 2"
charging (according to IEC 61851-1:2010) of vehicles
with both gassing and non-gassing batteries.
„ Vehicles with gassing batteries are not charged
( electronic system rejects vehicle).
„ The charging cable may only be used at vehicles which
at the very least meet the requirements of protection
class I (according to DIN VDE 0100) with CAT II.
„ If you have any questions, please contact your vehicle
dealer or the vehicle manufacturer.
„ The mode 2 charging cable has no UL certification and
may not be used in the USA and Canada!

„ MENNEKES accepts no liability for any consequences
arising from improper use of the device.

using the charging cable, and comply with all of the
information therein.
„ No liability is assumed for damage or defects arising as
a result of non-compliance with the information in the
manual.
„ Keep the operating manual for the charging cable
readily available, and pass this on to the new owner/user
if the charging cable changes hands.

2.2 General Safety Information

To ensure the safe use of the charging cable, the following
points must be complied with:
„ The charging cable is to be used only at electrical
installations which have been duly approved. In case of
doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
„ Do not allow the charging cable to be used by persons
who are not familiar with it or who have not read the
operating manual.
„ Persons (e.g. children), who are not able to accurately
assess the hazards associated with using the charging
cable, are to be kept away from this.
„ Do not use the charging cable in potentially-explosive
atmospheres, where flammable liquids, gases or dust are
present ‒ risk of fire and explosion!
„ Do not use the charging cable if under the influence of
drugs, alcohol or medication.
„ Check the charging cable for external damage (such as
cuts or cracks on the sheathing) prior to every use ‒ do
not use a charging cable if it is damaged!
„ The charging cable must not be used in combination
with additional auxiliary equipment (e.g. extension
cables, timers, socket adaptors, etc.).
„ Check the charging connector and the charging plug for
external damage (such as material cracks) ‒ do not use a
charging cable if it is damaged!
„ If a fault occurs during a self-test of the charging cable,
this cable must not be connected to the vehicle.

„ Do not pull the charging cable across sharp edges or
objects.
„ Avoid kinking the charging cable.
„ Ensure that a vehicle does not drive over the charging
cable, including the plug and socket.
„ Ensure that an abnormal mechanical load is not exerted
on the charging cable, charging connector, charging
plug and charging socket.
