Operating Instructions

8. Operating Instructions
Checks prior of any driving:
Tyre pressure / Tyre condition
Wheel mounting
Operation of the lighting and brake system
Pull up and fasten jockey wheel. The jockey
wheel should always be positioned parallel
to the driving direction
Check coupling. The ball-shaped coupling
must enclose the ball completely and
.
firmly
Check the screwing for tightness
Fasten the break-away cable at the vehicle
Release parking brake
For new vehicles - after the first
load drive:
Check wheel bolts for tightness using a
torque wrench. Always check the wheel
bolts after each tyre change
Recommendation: Check the brake system
after approx. 500 km and readjust it, if
required
In case of a caravan chassis: Check the
torques of the screwing
Have a good trip!

9. Start-up

Prior to driving:
Couple caravan or trailer
Insert
13-pole
connector into towing vehicle
Check lighting of the caravan or trailer
Check status indicator (LED) of the iDC
GB10
connector
or
2x7-pole
Start-up
Execute a visual inspection for damage and
loosened parts of cabling, screwing and of
the connection cable to the brake linkage
The connection cable should not have any
play after the hand brake of the overrun
device has been released and the overrun
device should not be in automatic reverse
gear mode
When connecting with the continuous
positive electricity of the battery, the iDC
effects a self-test. During the performan-
ce test, the brake linkage of the trailer
will be actuated, which will result in enor-
mous forces at the moving parts. Obser-
ve that neither objects nor parts of the
body are within the working area during
this process.
After the self-test the status LED must
be illuminated green. If this is not the
case, see chapter "A-2 LED Flashing
Code". If required, a specialized garage
is to be consulted. Proper operation of
the iDC might be affected. But the vehic-
le can be moved further.
The self-test cannot be executed perfectly or
does not give a correct message in the
following situations:
After long stop periods
Brake in automatic reverse gear mode -
Move the vehicle for some metres in driving
direction
The self-test must be finished prior to
1
driving*
The self-test must be finished prior to
driving.
*1
For correct indications, move the vehicle
for some kilometres and actuate the brake
several times.
