Product Description

4.1 Overview
The MTS 6512 VCI is used by professional technicians as
an aid in diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical
and electronic systems. The MTS 6512 VCI is designed
to connect the vehicle to a host PC computer application
which then functions though the MTS 6512 VCI for data
transfer and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) reprogram-
ming.
Using the VCI Manager PC application software, you
configure the MTS 6512 VCI to communicate with a host
computer. The MTS 6512 VCI is capable of communicating
over a USB cable or wireless (WLAN).
4.2

User group

The product may be used by skilled and instructed
personnel only. Personnel scheduled to be trained, fa-
miliarized, instructed or to take part in a general train-
ing course may only work with the product under the
supervision of an experienced person.
All work conducted on electrical devices may be per-
formed by persons with sufficient knowledge and expe-
rience in the field of electrics and hydraulics.
4.3

PC System Requirements

The MTS 6512 VCI Software runs on a PC/Laptop. The
user interacts with the MTS 6512 VCI software for device
setup, and configuration for J2534 data transfer and ECU
reprogramming.

4.4 MTS 6512 VCI Kit Contents
The MTS 6512 VCI Base Kit includes cables and hard-
ware needed to transfer data and reprogram ECUs on
vehicles through the DLC connector.
The MTS 6512 VCI kit is available in three different
configurations. The Non-Wireless kit (p/n 1699200007)
which includes the MTS 6512 VCI assembly without a
Wi-Fi adapter, the Wireless-Infrastructure-Mode kit (p/n
1699200009) which includes the MTS 6512 VCI assem-
bly with a Wi-Fi adapter, and the Wireless-Point-to-Point
kit (p/n 1699200008) which includes the MTS 6512 VCI
assembly with a Wi-Fi adapter and a Wireless 802.11n
USB Module.
Components common to all three kit configurations are
listed in the following table.
