1. Important safety information
1. Before installing and using the equipment described
in this manual, and to ensure safe, efficient use,
you must become familiar with the information
contained in this manual and strictly comply with the
instructions and information given in the manual.
2. This manual must be given to the derope™
descender user and should be available at all times
to first aid and rescue personnel. Additional copies
can be provided by Tractel S.A.S on request.
3. The derope™ descender must only be used,
maintained and managed by persons perfectly
familiar with the applicable safety regulations
and standards for this type of equipment and
any
associated

group and their certified
®
equipment,
and
having
necessary authority to ensure that the applicable
safety regulations and standards are observed.
All derope™ descender users must read and
understand the information contained in this
manual. derope™ descender users must ensure
that the associated Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) used is compatible with each other and
with the derope™ descender. Commissioning
of the derope™ descender must be verified by a
qualified technician to ensure that the condition
of the descender is compliant with the checks
recommended in this manual.
4. Make sure all applicable work regulations are
observed whenever use of the derope™ is entrusted
to any salaried or related personnel.
5. All persons using the derope™ descender must
satisfy the necessary physical and professional
aptitude requirements for work carried out at heights
and for rescue procedures. In case of doubt, contact
your doctor or company physician. All derope™
descender users must have successfully completed
appropriate classroom and practical training, under
risk-free conditions, associating Personal Protective
Equipment in compliance with all applicable safety
require ments. The training course must fully cover
the sections of this manual concerning utilization.

Use of the descender is prohibited for pregnant
women.
6. The derope™ descender must only be used for
evacuation and rescue of persons in compliance
with the instructions given in this manual. No other
use is authorized. In particular, the descender must
never be used as a suspension system or as a
component of a fall-arrest system as understood by
the terms of standard EN 363.
7. Before using the descender, make sure that all
markings on the descender are legible. For any
request, contact Tractel S.A.S or its distributor.
8. Use of the derope™ descender requires the user
to associate and connect fall-arrest or rescue
Personal
Protective
harness (EN 361), a rescue harness (EN 1497),
a rescue strap (EN 1498 class A or class B) are
the only body fastening devices authorized to be
fitted on a person to be rescued during a rescue
operation, connecting such devices to the derope™
descender.
9. Any fastening point to which the derope™
descender is secured must satisfy the requirements
of standard EN 795, or otherwise have a capacity
resistance of at least 10 kN (1 ton).
10. Contact Tractel S.A.S prior to any use of the
equipment in an environment presenting a specific
risk, in particular, but not limited to: a corrosive
the
environment or environment presenting a chemical
