not undergone the necessary previous checks (see
§ 6-2).

12. To use a derope™ UP R descender on a tripod
other than the Tractel S.A.S tracpode tripod.
13. To use a derope™ descender beyond the service
life defined by Tractel S.A.S.
14. To use a derope™ descender beyond the maximum
load authorized or the maximum descent height
authorized.
15. To use a derope™ descender with a person whose
weight is less than 30 kg.
16. To use a derope™ descender for repeated
descents beyond the maximum number of descents
authorized.
17. To use a derope™ descender as part of a fall-arrest
system as understood by standard EN 363.
18. To use a derope™ descender as a suspension
system for holding a work position.
19. To use a derope™ descender in an explosible
atmosphere.
20. To expose a derope™ descender or its rope to a
direct source of heat or light.
21. To use a derope™ descender or its rope outside
the temperature range between -35°C and +50°C.

22. To place a derope™ descender or its rope in contact
with abrasive chemical substances, or abrasive or
cutting surfaces.
23. To use the derope™ descender if the end of the
rope does not reach the ground.
24. To interfere with self-alignment of a derope™
descender with respect to the rope.
25. To prevent free rotation of the handwheel on
derope™ UP A, B, K or R descenders.
26. To insert any element in the rope holes of a
derope™ descender.
27. To open a derope™ descender, lubricate it or make
any change to the device.
28. To perform any repairs on a derope™ descender
without having been trained and recognized
competent for that purpose, in writing, by
Tractel S.A.S.
29. To touch the derope™ descender without being
sure that it has cooled after use.
30. To use the device derope™ UP R on a tripod
mounted tracpode console from Tractel
/ driver if the retractable handle of the hand wheel
is not folded in.
31. To use the derope™ UP R device on a tripod
mounted tracpode console from Tractel
/ driver if the user does not have both hands on the
drill.
32. To let go of the drill / driver if it is attached to the
end of the axis of the derope™ UP R device and a
person is suspended.

9. Maintenance and storage

The equipment covered by this manual must be stored
and transported in their original packaging.
During storage and/or transport, the equipment must
be:
1. Kept dry,
2. Kept at a temperature between -35°C and +50°C,
3. Protected against sources of direct heat and against
UV radiation,
4. Protected
against
aggressions, and any other type of aggression.

10. Periodic inspections and repair

A regular yearly inspection is mandatory. However,
