stones, glass pieces, nails, metallic cable and any
objects that can be projected or get caught during
the cutting.
Using pruning shears, first prune out branches of a
n
diameter greater than 27 mm.
Young buds can be trimmed easily with a scythe
n
movement; older and bigger hedges can be trimmed
easily with a sawing movement.
If desired. You can use a string to help cut your
n
hedge level. Decide how high you want the hedge.
Then ,stretch a piece of string along the hedge at this
height. Trim the hedge just above this guide line of
string. See Figure 4.Trim the side of a hedge so that it
will be slightly narrower at the top. See Figure 5.More
of the hedge will be exposed when shaped this way,
and it will be more uniform.
If hard objects become jammed in the cutter blade,
n
switch off the tool immediately, pull out plug first and
only then remove the objects.
Metal objects such as wire fences and plant supports
n
can damage the blade. Do not let the cutting blades
come in contact with materials that can not be
trimmed, such as stones or metal.
Always lay the lead away from the working area.
n
Always work away from the power socket. For
this reason, decide on the direction of cut before
beginning work.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING
When servicing, use only identical replacement
parts. Use of any other parts may create a
hazard or cause product damage.
WARNING
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses
with side shields during product operation. If
operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask.
WARNING
Before inspecting, cleaning, or servicing the
machine, disconnect the plug from power source
and wait for all moving parts to stop. Failure to
follow these instruc¬tions can result in serious
personal injury or property damage.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use.
Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

assembly, wear non-slip, heavy-duty protective
gloves. Do not place your hand or fingers
between blades or in any position where they
could get pinched or cut. NEVER touch blades
or service unit with the power supply connected.
SHARPENING BLADE
Allow the blades of hedge trimmer to come to a
n
stop in the position shown in Figure 7. this will allow
clearance for the file between cutter teeth and guard
teeth .
Clamp blade assembly in a vice and file the exposed
n
cutting surface of each blade tooth with an 203
mm(8inch) smooth round file,6.4mm(1/4 inch) or
5.6mm(7/32 inch) diameter. be sure to retain the
original angle of tooth when filing .
Remove the hedge trimmer from the vice, connect
n
the plug from power source and restart the hedge
trimmer. allow the blades of the hedge trimmer to
come to a stop so that the unsharpened edges of the
cutter blade teeth are exposed.
Disconnect the plug from hedge trimmer and repeat
n
the sharpening procedure as described above.
LUBRICATING THE BLADE
For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate the
hedge trimmer blade before and after each use.
Stop the motor and disconnect from power supply.
n
Lay the hedge trimmer on a flat surface. Apply light
n
weight machine oil along the edge of the top blade.
If you will be using the hedge trimmer for an extended
period, it is advisable to oil the blade during use.
See Figure 6
NOTE: Do not oil while the hedge trimmer is running.
Stop the motor and disconnect from power supply.
n
Lubricate the hedge trimmer as described above.
n
Reconnect to the power source and resume use.
