Check manually the free rotation of the shaft. The motor must not have abnormal noises or slidings;
ü
Check the state of lubrication of the bearings. For more details refer to Paragraph 7;
ü
Check that the inside of the terminal box is clean, dry, free of foreign materials and that the contact elements are free of rust and
ü
properly connected;
Check the condition of the seals in the terminal box;
ü
Verify that unused cable entries are properly sealed.
ü
Check the insulation resistance
Check the insulation resistance of the motor before making the connection with the power cables (motor insulation resistance checking).
Refer to Paragraph 7 for operating instructions for carrying out the measurement of the insulation resistance and acceptability values.
û
5.8 CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICAL POWER
In order to work, the motor must be connected to an electrical control panel.

5.9 STARTING TYPES ALLOWED
·
ATTENTION!
DIRECT ON LOAD (DOL) STARTING
Any motor can be started directly. This type of starting has the following disadvantages:
the starting current reaches very high values (refer to the technical documentation, catalogs and sheets for the starting current
·
values).
·
the stress on the mechanical components of the equipment, motor and installation is higher than that caused by progressive starters.
·
direct starting of the group can cause a voltage drop along the power supply line.
For this reason, it is recommended for low power motors (indicatively up to 37 kW)
Set the current protection value to 5% more than the absorbed current value in normal working conditions (in any case the set value must not
exceed 5% the rated motor current).
PROGRESSIVE STARTERS
STAR/DELTA STARTING (Y/ )
·
ATTENTION!
Do not touch the motor during and after measuring the insulation resistance. After the measurement,
discharge the winding before carrying out any other operation.
Use control panels that comply with CEI EN 60204-1 standards and local regulations in force.
The connection to the electrical network must be performed in compliance with the local and national
regulations of the electrical system of the place where the pump is installed.
The wiring diagrams supplied with this manual and with that of the control panel must also be followed.
Make the ground and equipotential connection before all other connections. For the sizing of the ground
cables, refer to TAB.X.
Perform a functional check of the control equipment (electrical control panel etc...).
The control panel must also be equipped with all the necessary protections to prevent that faults or
malfunctions in the electrical network (voltage fluctuations, phase failures, etc.) or any overloads can cause
damage to the motor: refer to the paragraph "Checks on the electrical system".
The use of an inadequate control panel will invalidate the warranty on the motor.
Set the values of the various devices correctly (protections, electronic equipment if present)
The group must not be started at full load. Refer to paragraph 6 for the starting procedure.
The maximum duration of the starting time (Y-operation) must not exceed 2,5 s and the switching time from
star (Y) to delta (D) must not exceed 60 ms.
