NOTE: The AMX switch can be used with non-Avocent KVM switches. Switching to a port with an attached non-
Avocent KVM switch requires the use of the OSD of the non-Avocent unit to continue the switch.
Configuring the AMX switch database
Once all users, servers and switches have been attached and connected to the LAN, configure the
AMX switch database of servers and users. For more information on configuring your AMX switch
database, see the AMWorks software online Help program.

Configuring an AMX Switch

An individual AMX switch can be configured through the OSCAR interface or with the AMWorks
software. For information on configuring an individual AMX switch through the OSCAR interface,
see Chapter 4. For more information on configuring your switch with the AMWorks software, see
the AMWorks online Help program.

FLASH Upgrading the AMX Switching System

FLASH upgrades allow you to update the firmware of your AMX switch and keep current with the
latest AMX switch innovations. Please check the Avocent web site for the appropriate FLASH
upgrade files. For more information on FLASH upgrading, including how to verify your firmware
version, please see your AMWorks online Help program.
NOTE: The AMWorks software is the only way to FLASH upgrade the AMX switch.
