Figure 2.10: Cascaded AMX Switching System

To install a cascaded AMX switching system:
1.
Position the AMX switches that will be connected and select a switch to be the primary hub.
2.
Connect one end of a UTP cable into a server port on the primary hub. Route the cable to
another switch you want to incorporate into the cascaded system and connect it to an available
user port. Continue this process until all user ports on the cascaded AMX switches have
been connected.
3.
You can now connect servers to the cascaded AMX switches. You also can use these cascaded
AMX switches to add another layer of AMX switches. Up to three levels of AMX switches can
be connected.
To cascade other KVM switches from the AMX switch:
1.
Place the switches at the desired location. Make sure that they are turned off and unplugged.
2.
Connect the keyboard, video and mouse connectors of an AMIQ module to the corresponding
local user ports on each cascaded switch.
3.
Route a UTP cable from the AMIQ module to the primary AMX switch and connect it to an
available server port.
