2.7 Sound-pressure

Depending on the size and performance (kW) of the
device, it has a sound-pressure level of approximately
70 dB (A) to 110 dB (A) during operation.
However, the actual sound-pressure level depends on
several factors. These include, for example, the installa-
tion depth, installation, fixation of accessories and
pipeline, the duty point, immersion depth, etc.
We recommend that the operator should take an addi-
tional measurement at the workplace once the device
is running at its duty point and under all operating con-
ditions.
Caution: Wear ear defenders!
According to applicable laws and regulations, ear
protection must be worn if the sound-pressure
level is 85 dB (A) or more! The end-user must
make sure that this is complied with!

3 Product description

The device is manufactured with great care and is sub-
ject to constant quality controls. Trouble-free opera-
tion is guaranteed if the device is installed and
maintained correctly.

3.1 Intended use and fields of application

Danger due to electrical hazard
When using the device in swimming pools or
other basins that can be entered, there is a risk
of death due to electrocution. Note the following:

It is strictly prohibited to pump explosive fluids
(gasoline, kerosene etc.). These devices are not
designed for these fluids!
Wilo-Drain TP... submersible pumps are suitable for
pumping:
• Sewage containing faeces
• Wastewater
• Industrial sewage
• Sludges (up to 3 % vol. dry matter)
• Mildly alkaline fluids
• Fluids with max. 500 mg/l chloride content
• Seawater up to 20 °C
Customer service approval is to be obtained for pump-
ing chemically contaminated sewage.

3.2 Set-up
Wilo-Drain TP... is a submersible sewage pump that can
be operated vertically in stationary or portable wet well
installation and in stationary dry well installation.

3.2.1 Hydraulics

thane. The pressure side connection is designed as a
horizontal flange connection. Single-channel impellers
are used as impellers.
The device is not self-priming, in other words, the
fluid must flow automatically.
Beware of static charging!
Static charging may occur in plastic parts. These
may give you an electric shock.
3.2.2 Motor
Surface-cooled motors are standard-equipped with
clogging-free sheath current cooling. The motor
shroud is made of stainless steel. Active cooling allows
the unit to be both immersed and non-immersed, in
continuous duty.
In addition, the motor is equipped with a leakage
to
detection unit and a thermal motor monitoring unit:
• The leakage detection signals water ingress into the
motor compartment.
• The thermal motor monitoring protects the motor
winding from overheating.
Connection port for the power supply cable is sealed
longitudinally watertight. The power supply cable is
detachable and has free ends.
3.2.3 Seal
The seal for the fluid and the motor compartment is
made via two mechanical seals. The sealing chamber
between the mechanical seals is filled with medical
white oil.
The sealing chamber can also be filled optionally with
water-glycol mixture.
If the separation chamber is filled with water-
glycol, an additional temperature sensor must be
installed in the bottom bearing bracket! Consult
the manufacturer for further details!
White oil is filled completely when installing the device.
