2- PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE

The Easyscan™ VM-ZX1 thermometer is pre-configured at the factory. It
is not necessary to calibrate the device when it is first used.
In order to obtain reliable, stable results, it is advisable, with each change
of environment with a significant difference in ambient temperature, to
leave the Easyscan™ VM-ZX1 at this ambient temperature for 15 to 20
minutes before use. It is important to wait a period of 1 minute between
readings.
For a temporal temperature reading (right temporal artery) take care to
brush away the hair, wipe any sweat off the brow, avoid air flows, (e.g.
supplemental oxygen, air conditioning, etc.).
To measure the tympanic temperature, make sure that the ear canal is
clean, as an ear with excess wax can give inaccurate readings.
The unit cannot be reused if the screen is not turned off.
- Do not place the thermometer in contact with diseased, ulcerated, or
bruised skin.
- Do not drink hot or cold beverages, and do not perform strenuous exer-
cise during the temperature reading.
- Watch out for physiological temperature changes that are to be
accounted for depending on the results: Body temperature increases by
0.5C° between 6 am and 3 pm. Women have a body temperature about
0.2C° higher on average. Their body temperature also varies depending
on the ovulation cycle. Thus it increases by 0.5C° in the second half of
the cycle, and in early pregnancy.
- When seated, the body temperature is 0.3 to 0.4C° lower relative to the
standing position.

4- BODY TEMPERATURE

4.1. IMPORTANT CONCEPT:
ESTIMATING BODY TEMPERATURE
The normal body temperature is located within a range, and a fixed value.
Everyone has their own temperature range.
Body temperature ca n vary by age, gender, time of day, activity, and
emotions. Persons of different ages have different temperatures; likewise,
body temperature varies at different times of the day. For example, child-
ren's temperatures are 0.5°C higher than those of adults; most people
have a lower body temperature at night, and it increases throughout the
day. Different parts of the body yield give different results. Normally, the
rectal temperature is 0.3°C higher than the oral temperature, and the oral
temperature is 0.3°C higher than the temperature of the armpit.
For your own tempe rature and that of your family members, you can
measure the temperature at different times of the day over 3 or 4 days,
when you are healthy. Once you know the temperature range of each
