Pressure sensor: connecting the exhaust
ECS...E ejector: The exhaust tube (1) can only be connected after setting the
switching point and hysteresis.
Further information on setting the switching point and hysteresis and on the
assembly of the exhaust plug (2) and blanking screw can be found in the PE3-
PV pressure sensor operating instructions, R412004326.
O Connect the exhaust tube (1) to the exhaust plug (2). (Tube inside diameter: Ø 3 mm)
Connecting the power supply
Danger of injury if assembled under voltage!
Injuries and damage to the product or system components may occur if the power
is not switched off before beginning assembly.
O Make sure that the relevant system part is not under voltage before you
assemble the product.
To connect the power:
1. Make sure the relevant system part is not under voltage.
2. Lay the cables so as not to bend or crush them.
7
Connecting the ECS...10/15 solenoid valves (vacuum/release pulse)
1. Connect the industrial plug (1) until the detent lever (2) engages in the solenoid
valve (3).
2. Connect the wires in accordance with the information in Fig.
The solenoid valves have no polarity protection. Pay attention that the wires
are connected correctly.
8
Connecting the ECS...20/30 solenoid valves (vacuum/release pulse)
1. Attach the electrical connector, form C (1) with seal (3) to the solenoid valve (4).
2. Tighten the mounting screw (2) (M
3. Connect the wires in accordance with the information in Fig.
9
Connecting the ECS...D/E pressure sensor
1. Connect the plug (1) to the pressure sensor (3).
2. Tighten the tube nut (2).
3. Connect the wires in accordance with the information in Fig.
10 11
Connecting the ECS...R air economizer
1. Mark the solenoid valves on both sides with the enclosed labels (only ECS...20/30).
– Solenoid valve for "vacuum" (2) = red label (1)
– Solenoid valve for "release pulse" (3) = blue label (4)
Make sure there is a correct connection (same color marking) between
solenoid valves and industrial plugs/electrical connectors.
2. Connecting the ECS...10/15 solenoid valves
a) Connect the industrial plugs until the detent lever engages in the solenoid
valves.
3. Connecting the ECS...20/30 solenoid valves
a) Plug the form C electrical connectors with seal onto the solenoid valves.
b) Tighten the mounting screw (M
4. Connecting the ECS...D/E pressure sensor
a) Connect the M8x1 plug to the pressure sensor.
b) Tighten the tube nut.
5. Connect the wires.

Commissioning and Operation

Commissioning for the first time
Commissioning the ECS...NO/NC ejector
Falling useful loads!
As a result of overlapping between the states "vacuum ON" and "release pulse ON",
the suction capacity of the ejector decreases and useful loads could fall.
O Make sure that no persons are under the load in the transport area.
O Do not switch to "release pulse ON" in the "vacuum ON" state.

CAUTION
1. Before commissioning, make sure that all the connections on the ejector are
proper and all of the tubing is firmly fitted.
2. Switch the operating voltage on.
3. Switch the working pressure on.
4. Setting the
Initial state:
ECS...NO
Solenoid valves:
Additionally switching the release pulse "ON" is not permissible!
a) Switch the vacuum "OFF".
b) Switch the release pulse "ON".

5. Setting the
Initial state:

Solenoid valves:
a) Switch the vacuum "ON".
Additionally switching the release pulse "ON" is not permissible!
b) Switch the vacuum "OFF".
c) Switch the release pulse "ON". Solenoid valves:
d) Switch the release pulse "OFF". Solenoid valves:
1) The LED is integrated in the CN1 electrical connector for ECS...20/30.
6. Check whether the necessary vacuum has been attained (e.g. with a pressure gauge).
7. Test the function of the solenoid valves and pressure sensor.
8. Set the pressure sensor.
Further information can be found in the corresponding operating instructions:

Commissioning the ECS...R ejector with air economizer
Lack of vacuum causes falling useful loads!
The useful load that is transported via the vacuum generated by the ejector may
fall as a result of a lack of operating voltage or reduced suction capacity.
O Make sure that no persons are under the load in the transport area.
1. Permanently connect the electrical connections BN (24 V DC) and GY (0 V) to the
operating voltage.
2. Set the connected suction gripper on the workpiece to be suctioned (only suitable
for applications with leaktight and smooth surfaces) and switch the operating
pressure on.
– ECS...NO: The actuation of the internal regulator places the device in the
"vacuum OFF" state (no suction).
– ECS...NC: The "vacuum ON" (suction) process is activated and the actuation of
the internal regulator subsequently switches the device into the "vacuum
OFF" state (no suction).
Depending on the leaktightness of the tubing and the workpiece, the integrated
non-return valve maintains this state until the vacuum level drops below the
default adjustment range (hysteresis from vacuum switch), which reactivates
"vacuum ON" (suction). Once the vacuum level reaches the default switching
point, "vacuum ON" (suction) is interrupted.
