examples for different combinations of the base plates for single solenoid and double solenoid
valves. The appropriate solenoid and pin assignments are indicated, as well as the respective
wire colors.
You can, of course, combine the base plates differently to fit your own requirements (see
"Mounting base plates (GP/FGP)" for more information).

Commissioning/Operation
Commissioning may only be carried out by qualified electrical or pneumatic personnel
or an instructed person under the direction and supervision of qualified personnel (also
see separate sheet "Notes on Safety" (R412015575), section "Personnel qualifications").
Step-by-step commissioning
Before commissioning the entire system, check each of the individual functions step-by-step.
1. Check all fittings and connections.
2. Check the valves for correct assignment of the control signals.
3. Check the pneumatic functions using the manual override.
4. Only then commission the entire system.
Step 1: Check assignment of the control signals
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Turn all manual overrides to position "0" (see „Operating the manual override").
3. Switch on the operating voltage.
4. Check the assignment of the control signals to the valve positions.
The yellow LED is illuminated if the valve is being properly controlled.
O
If the LED is not illuminated, check the assignment of the control signal and valve position.
Step 2: Check the pneumatic functions
Undefined system state
Danger of injury if the system is in an undefined state and if the manual overrides are not set
to zero.
O
Before switching the system on, ensure that it is in a defined state!
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Turn all manual overrides to position "0" (see „Operating the manual override").
3. Make sure that all actuators are in their home positions and that there is no danger from
moving actuators.
CAUTION: Before applying compressed air to the system, check the stability of the
compressed air connections and make sure that no personnel are within the hazardous zone
when the compressed air supply is switched on!
4. Apply the compressed air to the system.
5. Check all of the connected valves using the manual override (see „Operating the manual
override").
Step 3: Switch on the system
Undefined system state
Danger of injury if the system is in an undefined state and if the manual overrides are not set
to zero.
O
Check that the system is in a defined state before switching on the system!
O
Set all manual overrides to zero.
O
Make sure that no personnel are within the hazardous zone when the compressed air
supply is switched on.
1. Switch on the compressed air supply.
2. Switch on the operating voltage.

Operating the manual override
The valve control's functional reliability and method of operation can be checked before
commissioning by activating the valve positions using the manual override instead of the
electrical signal. Electrical voltage must not be applied to the valve when the manual override is
used.
The manual override has 2, 3, or 5 positions, depending on the valve design. Each solenoid coil is
operated individually. With 2x3/2-way valves, both solenoid coils can be activated
simultaneously.
Manual override damage due to improper operation
The manual override will be damaged if it is operated improperly or with excessive force.
O
Exercise care and caution when actuating the manual override.
O
Observe the following information for operation.
The manual override is available in two variants:
W
Manual override with
yellow control button:

Manual override with
red control
Operating the yellow control button
HF04, HF04-XF: press, turn with detent
1. Press the control button downwards from position 0 and turn it to the desired switching
position; the control button engages.
The valve(s) switch(es).
2. Turn the control button back from the switching position and release it.
The valve only returns to the position 0 after the control button is turned back to the
position 0.
HF03-LG, HF02-LG: turn with detent
1. Turn the control button from position 0 to the desired switching position, until it engages with
a slight click.
The valve(s) switch(es).
2. Turn the control button from the switching position back to position 0.
The valve only returns to the position 0 after the control button is turned back to the
position 0.
Operating the red control button
HF04, HF04-XF: without detent
1. Press the control button downwards.
The valve(s) switch(es).
2. Release the control button; the control button and the valve will automatically be reset to the
position 0.
HF03-LG, HF02-LG: turn
1. Turn the control button to the desired switching position.
The valve(s) switch(es).
2. Release the control button; the control button and the valve will automatically be reset to the
position 0.
