Intended use

The communication unit is used with full face masks in the Dräger
FPS 7000 series. It is designed for direct communication with persons
in the immediate vicinity and can be used as a headset for radios.

Some radios offer profiles for communication units. The
relevant profile must then be set on the radio. Further
information can be obtained from the radio manufacturer.

3 Use
3.1

General instructions on use

3.1.1 Display of operating status conditions
The communication unit can provide information on specific status
conditions using the LED and signal tones. The signalling of these
states is represented on the front fold-out page.

3.1.2 Connection of accessories
The communication unit may only be used in potentially explosive
atmospheres with accessories that are intrinsically safe. If accessories
that have not been approved by Dräger are used, compliance must be
ensured with the parameters specified in the supplement 9031286.

The voice quality of the communication unit can be influenced
by the connected radio and its settings.
3.1.3 Switching on the communication unit
Press the ON/OFF button for approx. 1 second.

A visual and acoustic signal indicate whether the communication
unit is ready for operation.
3.1.4 Switching off the communication unit
Press the ON/OFF button for at least 3 seconds.

A visual and an acoustic signal indicate that the communication
unit is being switched off.
3.1.5 Switching on the HazMat mode
1. Switch on the communication unit.
2. Press and hold the ON/OFF button. Ignore the switch-off signal.
Continue to hold the ON/OFF button.
A visual and acoustic signal indicate when the communication unit
is in HazMat mode.
The voice amplification is switched off, the radio connection will still
work.
