Product description

The Dräger FPS COM 5000 is a communication unit for full face masks
in the Dräger FPS 7000 series. A suitable variant is available for each
of the different mask connections.
The communication unit offers the following functions:
Voice amplification for direct communication

The voice amplification speakers simplify communication with
persons in the immediate vicinity by directly transferring speech
and by minimizing distortion of language through the mask body.
If the voice amplification speakers are not required, they can be
turned off. It is recommended to switch off the voice amplifier unit
loudspeaker, for example, during operations in a chemical
protective suit (HazMat mode, see chapter 3.1.5 on page 20).
Radio communication is then still possible.
Connection to a tactical radio

The communication unit is equipped with a microphone and an
earphone to allow wireless connection. The connection to the
radio can be established via a Bluetooth adapter or a radio
connection cable. Depending on type, the radio connection cable
can be connected via an external PTT or directly to the radio. The
PTT is integrated in the radio connection cable in case of a direct
connection.
Breathing sounds are filtered out by the communication unit and
the voice is transferred to the radio. The quality of the radio
transmission can be influenced by the radio used.
Automatic shut-down when inactive

The automatic shut-down function can be interrupted (see
chap. 3.4.2 on page 23).
