5.2.1

Replacing batteries

WARNING

Do not replace the batteries in an explosive environment!
Otherwise there is a risk of explosion!
The batteries are part of the approved version. The batteries
which can be used are specified in the supplement.
CAUTION
!
Do not open, take apart, modify or refit the batteries.

Do not insert foreign objects into the batteries.

Do not allow the batteries to be dropped, crushed, bent,

misshapen, pierced or crushed.
Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat or place

them in a microwave oven. If the batteries are once
exposed to high temperatures, the batteries must be
replaced immediately.
If a battery leaks, the fluid must not be allowed to come

into contact with the skin or eyes. If the fluid has already
come into contact with the skin or the eyes, rinse the
affected area with large quantities of water, seek medical
assistance immediately.
Never short-circuit the batteries.

Improper handling of batteries can cause fire, explosions

or other hazards.
Dräger FPS-COM 5000
Replace the batteries as follows:
1. Switch off the communication unit.
2. Loosen the screw of the battery cover (T10).
3. Open the battery cover.
4. Remove the old batteries.
5. Insert new batteries as shown in the graphic on the battery
compartment.
CAUTION
!
Ensure that the battery polarity is correct. If the batteries are
inserted incorrectly, the communication unit may become
damaged beyond repair.
6. Check whether the battery cover seal is clean and undamaged
and correctly positioned. Replace the battery cover seal if
necessary.
7. Close the battery cover. Slightly lubricate the seal with silicone
grease if necessary.
8. Tighten the screw of the battery cover (torque: max. 0.5 nm).
9. Dispose of used batteries in accordance with applicable
regulations.
5.2.2 Replacing earphones (see Figure D)

To prevent premature wear the earphone should only be
removed if faulty.
1. Loosen the screw with a Torx screwdriver (T8).
2. Disconnect the old earphones from the communication unit.
3. Place the earphones straight onto the guide on the communication
unit.
Take care that the pins do not become bent.
4. Tighten the screw (torque: 0.3 Nm).
