5.1
Self-checking and maintenance work
Measures for self-checking, maintenance
and general inspection must be carried
out in compliance with the stipulations laid
down EN 858.
Measures
What must be done?
Self-checking
Checking the proper functioning of the system. In particular,
by the operator
the self-actuating closure and the coalescence unit. The checks
should be documented in the operations log.
Maintenance
Measures as under self-checking by the operator, and the fol-
lowing additional measures when required: cleaning or replac-
ing the coalescence unit; emptying and cleaning the separa-
tor; cleaning the discharge channel in the sampling shaft.
Disposal
The separators must be emptied at the latest when:
80 % of the maximum oil storage volume has been reached or
50 % of the max sludge trap volume has been reached.
General
The separator must be emptied and the contents properly
inspection
disposed of before the general inspection. The separator must
then be cleaned. The inspection looks at the proper function-
ing of the self-actuating closure, the tightness of the system,
and the condition of the installed devices and the coating.
