To ensure the constant improvement of its prod-
ucts, Tractel® reserves the right to make any
changes deemed useful to the equipment de-
scribed in this manual at any time.
Companies in the Tractel® Group and their ap-
proved dealers will supply their documentation
on the range of other Tractel® products on re-
quest; lifting and pulling equipment and acces-
sories, site and facade access, safety devices
for loads, electronic load indicators, PPE, fall
arrest systems, etc.
The Tractel® network can provide an after-sales
and regular maintenance service.

1. Key guidelines

1. The guard trac™ WP and guard trac™
WPS guardrails are designed to control
the risk of serious falls of personnel. For
safe and efficient installation and use of the
guard trac™ equipment, it is essential to
read this manual and strictly adhere to the
instructions contained in it.
2. This manual should be delivered to the
guard trac™ WP or guard trac™ WPS
guardrails manager and be made availa-
ble to any operator and installer. Additional
copies may be supplied by Tractel® upon
request. If the customer requires the pres-
ent manual in another language than those
provided here, please contact a Tractel®
representative.
3. Never use guard trac™ WP or guard trac™
WPS guardrails if any of the markings that
should appear on it, as shown in the sec-
tion 13, are no longer present or legible.
4. Each person having access to an area
protected by the guard trac™ WP or guard
trac™ WPS guardrails must meet the con-
ditions of physical and professional fitness
to work at height and be allowed to work
in the area in question. If in doubt, medical
advice should be sought.
5. As each installation of guard trac™ WP or
guard trac™ WPS guardrails is unique, the
specific circumstances should be consid-
ered before the installation commences.
This should be done by someone techni-
cally qualified for such a job and should in-
clude the necessary calculations. Particular
attention should be given to the lay-out of
the project site, the mechanical properties
of the underlying structure as well as prop-
erties of the roof material that the guardrails
are being placed on. All the details of the
study outlined above should be stored in a
technical file and should be made available
to the installer.
6. The installation of guard trac™ WP or
guard trac™ WPS should be carried out
using appropriate means and while ensur-
ing that the risks to the installer of falling
from height are appropriately addressed.
7. The operation, maintenance and manage-
ment of the guard trac™ WP or guard trac™
WPS guardrails should be placed under the
responsibility of people who know the safe-
ty regulations and standards for this type of
material and the equipment associated with
it. Each manager, installer and user must
have read and understood this manual. Af-
ter installation, the guard trac™ WP or guard
trac™ WPS guardrails must be checked by
a competent person to ensure compliance
with the installation plan, this manual and
the technical file outlined above.
8. The guard trac™ WP or guard trac™ WPS
guardrails must be regularly inspected by
the manager to ensure the ongoing con-
formity and compliance with applicable
safety requirements, rules and standards.
9. The guard trac™ WP or guard trac™ WPS
guardrails must never be used unless they
are in good condition. In case of visual de-
tection of a defect or any doubt about the
condition of the guardrail, it is essential to
remedy the defect found, before further
use. Periodic inspection of guard trac™
WP or guard trac™ WPS
mandatory at least once a year and must
be scheduled, as indicated in section 8.2,
under the supervision of the Manager of the
installation person. This inspection must be
carried out in accordance with this manu-
al's instructions.
10. The guard trac™ WP and guard trac™
WPS guardrails should only be used for
protection against falls from height at plac-
es where a parapet already exists. No other
use is permitted.
11. It is prohibited to repair or modify any in-
dividual parts of the guard trac™ WP or
guard trac™ WPS guardrails or to install
parts which were not supplied or recom-
