Chain Saw Storing
After any use, clean the chain saw properly.
Never store a chain saw for longer than 30 days without
performing the following procedures:
1.
Empty the chain saw oil from the oil tank.
2.
Pour some engine oil into it.
3.
Allow the engine run for some time to clean the oil
leadings and oil pump.
4.
Empty the fuel tank.
5.
Start the engine and allow it run for idle until the
engine stops due to fuel lack.
6.
Remove the saw chain and guide bar; clean them
and sprinkle them with preservative oil.
7.
Clean the chain saw properly and store it on a dry
place.

Felling demands great experience. Both, felling
and limbing can be carried out trained persons
only.
Courses for work with the chain saw and
courses for felling trees are regularly offered by
local professional organisations.
6.1
General Guidelines for Felling Trees
In the area of felling trees, there must not be any other
persons or animals.
The safety distance from the tree being felled is minimally
2½ length of the tree.
Never cut with the nose of the guide bar. Danger
of kickback.
The direction of fall is controlled by the notching cut.
Felling can start only under the condition that
escape way from the felling tree is provided.
The escape way should lead ca 45° obliquely back.

The felling cut (27/C) must be done in the desired fall
direction (27/E) as close to the ground as possible.

If the tree starts falling during the cut, immediately re-
move the chain saw from the cut and leave via the safety
way out of danger. Beware of falling brunches.
If the tree stays standing, fell it using wedges which are
driven to the felling cut. Beware of falling brunches.

Natural lean of the tree,
Height of the tree,
Big amount of brunches,
Location on the flat land or slope,
Asymmetric growth, damaged wood,
Direction and velocity of air,
Snow on the brunches.
Never cut a tree during winds.
Felling
First cut the felling notch (27/C) obliquely from the
above, then horizontally.
Cut the felling cut (27/D) horizontally in the opposite
to the felling notch. The cut must be done ca 3-5 cm
higher than the horizontal notch.
There must be a joint bar (27/F) between the
notch and the cut, whose width is ca 1/10 of the
tree trunk diameter.
