6.5 Main te nance work on the en gine

Only the main te nance work which has to be per -
formed daily is in cluded in the Op er at ing Man ual.
Please re fer to the en gine Op er at ing Man ual and to

therein.

6.5.2 Fill ing-up with fuel
Only top-up by sta tion ary mo tor.
No open fire.
Danger
Do not smoke.
Do not fill-up in closed rooms.
Do not in hale petrol fumes.
Col lect spilt fuel in a suit able con tainer and pre -
vent spill age en ter ing the soil.
• Clean around the fuel filler socket (1).
• Open the fuel filler socket and
• Vi su ally check the fuel level.
• Top-up if nec es sary. All die sel oils sold as fuel and com ply ing
with the fol low ing min i mum spec i fi ca tion can be used: EN 590
or DIN 51601 - DK or BS 2869 A1 / A2 or ASTM D 975 - 1D /
2D
• Close the tank tightly.

6.5.3 Check en gine oil level
Im me di ately re place dam aged seals.
Attention
Col lect old oil and dis pose of it in an en vi ron ment
friendly man ner.
Do not per mit oil to run onto the floor into the
Environment
drains.
• Park the ma chine hor i zon tally.
• Clean the area around the mea sur ing dip.
• Draw out mea sur ing dip(7), wipe-off with clean, lintfree cloth.
• In sert mea sur ing dip again un til the stop.
• Draw out mea sur ing dip again and check oil level.
• If nec es sary, re fill oil un til up per mark ing.
• Clean area around filler socket.
• Open the filler socket (2).
• Fill-in re quired oil quan tity.
• Se cure oil fill ing socket.
• In sert mea sur ing dip.
• Al low the mo tor to run for approx. 1 min. and check oil level;
com plete if nec es sary.
6.5.4 Check area around com bus tion air and cool ing
air sys tem
Check in take open ing for com bus tion air and cool ing air in takes.
Re move coarse ob struc tions such als leaves, stones and earth.
6.5.5 Drain ing off wa ter (fuel tank)
The fuel tank must be checked once a week for accumalations of
wa ter in or der to pre vent wa ter from pen e trat ing into the sen si tive
in jec tion sys tem.
• Un screw screw (10) to last turn on the thread.
• Col lect drops which flow out in a clear con tainer.
• De ter mine by vi sual in spec tion whether wa ter is drain ing out
(wa ter set tles to the bot tom of the con tainer).
• As soon as fuel flows out, close the screw again.
6.5.6 Clean ing the air fil ter el e ment
• Re move air-cover
• Care fully pull out fil ter el e ment.
• Use a jet of dry com pressed air (max. 5 bar) to blow through
the fil ter el e ment from the in side out wards, mov ing it up and
down at the same time, un til no fur ther dust emerges.
• Tilt the fil ter el e ment and hold it against the light (or shine a
light through it) to trace any cracks or other dam age.
Change fil ter el e ment:
• If the fil ter el e ment or seal ing ring is dam aged
Attention
• Af ter clean ing twice
• If there are soot-con tain ing de pos its
• If moist or oily
• When en gine per for mance re duces or
• the col our of the ex haust gas changes
Never op er ate the en gine with out air fil ter el e ment
• Clean air cover and -hous ing with lintfree cloth.
• Care fully pull in the fil ter el e ment.
• Fit-up the cover.
