3. Ope ra ti on
3.1 De scrip tion
The APH 5020/5030/6020/6530/100-20 are re vers ible vi brat ing
plates op er at ing on the ba sis of the twin-shaft resp. three-shaft
vi bra tion sys tem prin ci ple. The En gine drives the ex citer on the
base plate via hy drau lic com po nents.
The ex citer pro duces the vi bra tion re quired for com pac tion ow ing
to the in cor po rated out-of-bal ance weights.
The ma chine is guided at the tow-bar grip. It is op er ated with the
op er at ing con trols on the tow-bar.
The APH 5020/5030/6020/6530/100-20 are suit able for all heavy
com pac tion work in the fileds of civil En gi neer ing and road con -
struc tion.
It can be used to com pact all ground ma te ri als such as sand,
gravel, slag, crushed stone, as phalt and com pos ite sett pav ing.
Take great care on downslopes. The ma chine
could slip down ow ing to loose ma te rial or if the
sur face is slip pery.
Danger
Do not work on hard con crete or set as phalt sur -
fac ing.

The En gine speed can be ad justed steplessly with the con trol le -
ver. At min i mum En gine speed (I), the drive to the ex citer is dis -
con nected at the cen trif u gal clutch and the En gine idles.
The cen trif u gal clutch en gages when the con trol le ver is moved
ap prox i mately ¼ of its ad just ment travel.
The En gine speed should al ways be well be low or
well above the en gag ing speed of the cen trif u gal
clutch, oth er wise, the clutch lin ings will wear very

quickly or could even be de stroyed.

The drive le ver serves to ad just the move ments in the ex citer and
there fore pro vides a stepless con trol
• of the travel di rec tion for wards (a) / back wards (b)
• of the speed

Emer gency stop con nec tion
The emer gency stop switch serves to im me di ately halt the ma -
chine in emer gency sit u a tions.
Once the switch knob is pressed the power trans mis sion is in ter -
rupted and the ma chine it self stops though the En gine con tin ues
to run.
Fol low ing the press ing of the switch dur ing op er a tion:
• The switch is re leased by with draw ing it.
• Nor mal op er a tion can then be im me di ately re sumed. (The
travel di rec tion and speed do not need to be reselected).
En gine start is pos si ble with the switch de pressed.
