General notes for the construction process and for the construction manual
The numbering corresponds mainly to the sequence of the construction process.
Please use the instructions, the parts list and the illustrations to get an overview of the respective construction
steps.
In the appendix of the instructions you will find overview drawings for the laser cut parts as well as individual
part drawings for the wire bending parts and the circuit diagrams for the special functions.
Vacuum formed parts
After trimming the vacuum formed parts, smooth the cut edges with sandpaper.
Drill the holes in the vacuum formed parts according to the markings and dimensions in the illustrations.
Laser parts
Only separate the parts that are dealt with in the corresponding step.
The identification drawings make it easier to find the parts. Number the parts accordingly. Make sure that the
numbers on the parts are always placed on the non-visible side so that the numbers do not have to be
removed before painting.
When gluing the individual parts, make sure that the centre punch tips remain visible or accessible for drilling.
Roughen all glued areas with sandpaper before applying the adhesive.
Only use the adhesives recommended by us.
Follow the processing instructions of the adhesive manufacturer.
Always adjust all parts "dry" first before gluing. When using Stabilit-Express, do not apply thick beads of glue,
but spread out the adhesive.
Apply Stabilit-Express to all glued areas on the hull where water could penetrate (rudder bearings, stern
tubes, etc.).
After applying the glue, hold the parts in position with clamps or adhesive strips.
Small amounts of superglue should be applied with a needle or thin wire.
Insulate soldered joints on connectors or cables with heat shrink tubing.
Directional indications, such as left and right, are to be seen in the direction of travel.
All dimensions in the text or illustrations are given in mm.
Notes on lacquering
Joints between the individual plastic parts can be filled with a plastic filler, e.g. Perfect Plastic Putty Best.
44089, and then sanded clean.
Wash the plastic parts intended for painting with benzine (no nitro) before painting and touch them as little as
possible afterwards. Before painting the fuselage, we recommend treating it with adhesive primer and
sanding it over finely.
If you want a flawless and cleanly delineated paint job, you must always paint in sections.
This means that each individual part which is to have a different colour tone is neatly matched to the model,
painted and then glued to the model.
If a multi-coloured painting is desired, the demarcations must be made with masking tape or PVC tape - do
not use Tesakrepp. The tape must be removed when the paint has dried but not through.
Sand glued surfaces of already painted parts before gluing.
If painting work is absolutely necessary before further assembly, this will be indicated. Otherwise, paint at
your own convenience.
Only acrylic or synthetic resin-based lacquers are recommended for lacquering. Both brush-on and spray can
lacquers can be used.
