Tip
• If you leave the POWER
ON switch set to OFF, the
VCR will enter standby
mode when mains is
supplied from external
equipment (Power on
standby).
Note
• The power on play and
power on rec functions do
not work if the SENSOR
REC switch is set to ON.
The VCR can automatically start playback or recording when the mains
is supplied from external equipment such as a timer.
Before you start...
• Check that the SENSOR REC indicator is not lit. If it is lit, set the
SENSOR REC switch to OFF.
Starting playback automatically — Power on play

Insert a tape into the VCR.

Set the POWER ON switch to PLAY.

Press STANDBY/ON to turn off the VCR.

Disconnect the VCR from the mains.

Supply mains to the VCR from external equipment.
The VCR turns on and starts playback automatically. When
playback is finished, the VCR rewinds the tape and turns off
automatically.
To repeat playback
If you set the AUTO REPEAT switch to ON and follow the steps above,
the VCR plays the same portion repeatedly.
Starting recording automatically — Power on rec

Insert a tape with its safety tab in place.

Check that the REC LEVEL control is set to the centre
position.

Select the tape speed, SP (Standard Play) or LP (Long
Play) with the TAPE SPEED switch.
LP provides recording time twice as long as SP, however, SP
produces better picture and audio quality.

Set the POWER ON switch to REC.

Press STANDBY/ON to turn off the VCR.
6
Disconnect the VCR from the mains.
7
Supply mains to the VCR from external equipment.
The VCR turns on and starts recording automatically.
When the tape reaches the end, the VCR rewinds the tape and
turns off automatically.
