9. DMX Connection

You can operate a maximum of 32 devices in a DMX chain without overloading the controller.
The maximum total length of the DMX chain should not exceed 500 m.
Use of XLR microphone cables may cause interferences in the DMX signal transmission. In this
case, please use special DMX high-frequency cables.
If the DMX connections are not used, the connections DMX IN (2) and DMX OUT (4) must be
screwed together to warrant tightness against water.
a) Connection of a DMX Controller
Only connect the device to a DMX controller with a DMX-512 protocol.
• Connect the enclosed DMX line to the DMX IN (2) port and screw on this connection.
• Connect the port DMX line at the DMX IN (2) port with the output of the DMX controller.
• Use a screened XLR cable for this. The controller must have up to 28 free control channels depending on
DMX operating mode.
• Connect DMX OUT (4) with the DMX input of the subsequent device. If the light effect is the last or the
only device in the DMX chain, screw the enclosed water-proof protective cover onto the connection
DMX OUT (4).
Pin assignment of the DMX connection: Pin1 = earth / Pin2 = (-) / Pin3 = (+).
