The units are tested in the factory, where they are also calibrated and
the default parameter settings are put in. These guarantee that the
appliances run correctly in rated working conditions. The machine
configuration is carried out in the factory and should never be altered.
II.9.2

UNIT START UP

Before starting the unit, perform the following checks:
○ The electricity power supply must comply with the specifications on
the data plate and/or the wiring diagram and it must fall within the
following limits:
• variation of the power supply frequency: ±2 Hz.
• variation of the power supply voltage: ±10% of the nominal voltage;
• imbalance between the supply phases: <2%.
○ the electrical power supply must supply an adequate current for
supporting the load;
○ access the electric panel and make sure the power supply terminals
and contactors are tight (they may have loosened during transport, with
consequent risk of malfunction);
○ check that the water system inlet and outlet pipes are connected in
accordance with the arrows next to the machine water inlet/outlet;
○ check that the air-side heat exchanger is clean and that the airways
are clear.
Electrical connections must be made in compliance with the local
installation standards in force in the place where the unit is installed,
and with the instructions in the wiring diagram provided with the unit.
For the sizing of the supply cables, refer to what is set out in the wiring
diagram.
IMPORTANT!
On three-phase models, before connecting the main
power supply cables L1-L2-L3+N to the terminals of
the general isolator, make sure that they are in the
right order.
The machine can be started by pressing the ON/OFF key on the
keyboard built into the machine. Using the MODE key, select an
operating mode (chiller or heat-pump). Any problems the system
encounters will be immediately shown on the display on the control
keyboard. At start-up, the first device to start in the system is the pump,
which has priority over the rest of the system. During this phase, the
minimum water flow differential pressure switch and the low pressure
switch (if present) are ignored for a preset time, in order to avoid
variations caused by air bubbles or turbulence in the water circuit or by
pressure fluctuations in the cooling circuit. Once these time-delays are
over, the machine is given definitive consent to start up and the fan is
enabled then, after another safety time delay, the compressor is started
up.

PUTTING OUT OF SERVICE

IMPORTANT!
Failure to use the unit during the winter period may
cause the water contained in the system to freeze.
When the machine is out of use for long periods of time, it is necessary
to disconnect it from the mains by opening the mains switch.
All the water contained in the circuit must be drained. During
installation, consider mixing the water in the circuit with the correct
12°C
proportion of ethylene glycol to guarantee protection against freezing
40°C
(see SECTION II).

OF INACTIVITY
8'
Before starting up, carry out the following checks:
120"
• the air-side heat exchanger is clean and that the airways are clear;
15"
• there is no air in the water system (bleed it if necessary);
15"
• the water in the heat-exchanger circulates at the rate required, (in
360"
the P/L and T/H versions the pump use and maintenance manual is
30"
provided).
II.10 NATURE AND FREQUENCY OF SCHEDULED
INSPECTIONS
DANGER!
Maintenance operations, even if for inspection
purposes only, must be carried out by skilled
technicians, qualified for working on air
conditioning and refrigerant products.
DANGER!
Always use the mains switch to isolate the unit
from the mains before carrying out any
maintenance work on the unit, even if it is for
inspection purposes only. Make sure that no one
accidentally supplies power to the machine, lock
the mains switch in the OFF position.
In order to guarantee that the unit runs regularly and efficiently, it is
necessary to schedule an overall inspection at regular intervals to
prevent malfunctions which could damage the main machine
components.
EVERY 6 MONTHS
• Check the gas charge.
• Check that there are no gas leaks.
• Check the power consumption of the unit.
• Check the functioning of the differential water pressure switch.
• Bleed any air from the water system.
• Check the contactors on the electric panel.
END OF SEASON with unit switched off:
• Check the state of cleanliness of the air-side heat exchanger.
• Drain the water system.
• Inspect and, if necessary, tighten the electrical contacts and
terminals.

II.11 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

DANGER!
Maintenance operations, even if for inspection
purposes only, must be carried out by skilled
technicians, qualified for working on air
conditioning and refrigerant products. Use suitable
personal protection (gloves, eye protection etc).
DANGER!
Do not introduce pointed objects through the air
inlet or outlet grilles.
DANGER!
Always use the mains switch to isolate the unit
from the mains before carrying out any
maintenance work on the unit, even if it is for
inspection purposes only. Make sure that no one
accidentally supplies power to the machine, lock
the mains switch in the OFF position.
DANGER!
In the case of cooling or fan circuit component
breakage or a refrigerant pressure drop, the upper
part of the compressor casing and the drainage line
may reach temperatures as high as 180°C for brief
periods of time.
