INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION

Connecting the Gas Supply

An approved connecting tap with coupling should be used
in the supply hose (In Belgium this must be B.G.V.
approved). Furthermore:
• Expel all air from the supply pipes/hoses before coupling
to the appliance.
• Do not turn the coupling tap when connecting it to the
gas supply.
• Avoid any pressure on the control tap and pipes.
• Check that all connections are gastight.
Ignition wire
During production the ignition wire is rolled up, as it is
1000 mm long. After installation, insulate the spark plug
wire to avoid leaks or the ignition not working properly.
NB: To ensure the ignition works properly, the ignition wire
must come into as little contact as possible with the metal
parts of the heater and should therefore not be wound
round the gas or pilot-light pipes or the thermocouple.

Positioning the logs

Position the logs as follows:
• Fill the burners with vermiculite (A).
• Position the centre log (B)
• NB: Always position the centre log first, before sprinkling
the chips on the lower burner tray.
• Sprinkle the chips (C) on top of the vermiculite in the
lower burner tray and the surrounding tray (see fig. 14c).
• Now lay the rest of the logs in place as illustrated in fig. 14c.
• Make sure that log D is far enough to the back for it to
rest against the notch in log E.
• If log F is in the flames, move it a fraction further to the

back or front so that it does not "disturb" the flame.
Do not use any materials other than those supplied. The
supplied materials are incombustible and have been manu-
factured specifically for this appliance.

Fitting the glass panel

Once the logs have been positioned, the glass panes can be
replaced.
• Replace the right-hand pane and glass strip (6) with the 6
self-tapping screws (5).
• Replace the top glass strip (4) with the 6 self-tapping
screws (5). NB:There are two springs incorporated in this
glass strip to hold the glass firmly in place.
For safety reasons a guard should be placed in front of the
fire at all times.
Mounting the front panel (fig. 2 and 15)
The coloured frame is packed separately to the basic set.
• If the fire has been installed proud of the chimney breast
(outset), fit the cover plates (12 and 13). Slide the cover
plates into the grooves of the chimney breast rebates and
fix in place with the self-tapping screws (14), see fig. 2.
• Screw the 12 magnets (K) into the appliance (fig. 15a).
• Fit the top and bottom frame sections (L).They are both
the same (fig. 15b).
• Fit the left and right-hand frame sections (M). Make sure
that the holes in the edge are at the bottom with the
thicker edge towards the glass (fig. 15b).
• Adjust the magnets if necessary, if the frame is not all neat-
ly in line.
