Available Surround Modes (1)
The surround functions create a "live" atmosphere such as that
experienced in movie theaters, discos, stadiums and concert
halls.
Select the appropriate surround mode according to the program
source.
< Note that surround speakers are needed for the DTS, Dolby
Digital 5.1CH and the Dolby Pro Logic Surround modes to
function, and a center speaker is needed for the 3 Stereo mode
to function.
< When a DTS or Dolby Digital format signal is input, the
surround mode automatically switches to the DTS or DOLBY
DIGITAL modes.
Press the SURROUND on the AMP ADVANCED page of the remote
control unit to turn the surround mode on.
Every time the SURROUND button is pressed, the mode is changed
as shown :

This unit is provided with the following surround modes.
DTS
During playback of a DVD disc recorded in DTS format, the
surround mode is set to DTS automatically.
DTS Digital Surround delivers up to 6 channels of transparent
audio (which means identical to the original masters) and results
in exceptional clarity throughout a true 360˚ soundfield.
If you select STEREO mode during playback of DVD, the multi-
channel sound is downmixed to 2 channels.
DOLBY DIGITAL
During playback of a DVD disc recorded in DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1-CH
format, the surround mode is set to DOLBY DIGITAL automatically.
With a Dolby Digital 2-channel audio source, you can select from
options of from DOLBY PRO LOGIC II to STEREO.
Dolby Digital delivers up to 5 totally discrete, full frequency audio
channels (front left and right, center, and surround left and right),
plus 0.1 channel called LFE*( Low-Frequency Effects).
If you select STEREO mode during playback of DVD, the multi-
channel sound is downmixed to 2 channels.
* LFE: Low Frequency Effects
This channel delivers separate non-directional bass signals
to the subwoofer for more dynamic deep bass sound effects.
