8. Fit the accessories.

Maintenance work

Following any maintenance work and/or replacement of components,
repeat the check for leak tightness again.

4.3.1 Visual inspections
The speech diaphragm must not show any damages. If required,

the speech diaphragm must be replaced (see chapter 4.3.5 on
page 19).
To check the exhalation valve, remove the exhalation valve cover

from the equipment connector, and carefully inspect the valve disk.
The valve disk and valve seat must be clean and undamaged.
Clean or replace if necessary (see chapter 4.3.6 on page 19).
Check all parts for damage and replace them if necessary.


Replacing the visor

1. Mask with metal visor frame: Unscrew the screws while blocking
the hexagon nuts.
1. Mask with plastic visor frame: Unscrew the screws.
2. Pry the visor frame apart at the joints using a screwdriver, and then
pull it off to the top and bottom.
3. Remove the support plate if necessary (see chapter 4.3.3 on
page 19).
4. Remove the old visor from the rubber frame.
5. Insert the new visor first in the upper and then the lower half of the
rubber frame.
The central markings on the visor must line up with the seam on
the mask body.
NOTICE

For masks approved for use in firefighting applications (class
3), only use visors marked with the letter »F« (fire brigade).
The »F« is located at the top.
6. Pull the rubber frame over the edge of the visor on the right and
left side.
7. Moisten the outside of the rubber frame and the inside of the visor
frame with soap water.
8. Press first the upper, then the lower visor frame on.
9. Insert the support plate if necessary.
10. Mask with metal visor frame: Screw the screws into the hexagon
nuts and tighten until the gap between the clamping pins is 3 to
0.5 mm.
11. Mask with plastic visor frame: Insert and tighten the screws.
