Maintenance
5.1

Maintenance intervals

Note the national directives and the Instructions for Use of the
mask.
Type of work to be carried out
Charge battery
Switch, battery and fan unit:
Check function, replace if necessary
Clean purifying respirator
Visual inspection of filter seal, corrugated
hose and fitting, replace if necessary
Belt unit: Leak testing
Check battery capacity
1) by Dräger. Clean all components thoroughly before dispatch.

Maintenance tasks

5.2.1
Replacing the filter seal
1. Remove filter.
2. Pull old seal out of the groove (Figure M).
3. Moisten new seal, insert into groove and press with fingers
into the groove from opposite ends (Figure N).
The seal must sit evenly on the base of the groove all
around.
4. Check for tightness (see Chapter 5.4 on Page 14).
5.2.2
Replacing the corrugated hose
1. Remove the protective rings from the connector clamps at
the belt unit and fitting (Figure O).
2. Cut through the catch of the connector clip using the pliers
16 13 391 and pull the hose off both connection pieces.
3. Place one protective ring and one new connector clamp
over each of the two muffs of the new hose and push the
muffs onto the connection pieces until they engage.
4. Put on the belt unit.
5. Align the fitting such that the opening points to the outlet
(Figure P).
6. Firmly press the catch of the two connection clamps
together using the pliers R 53 239.
7. Pull the protection rings over the connection clamps.
8. Take off the belt unit.
9. Check for tightness (see Chapter 5.4 on Page 14).

Opening/closing the housing

These steps are only necessary if the switch, battery or
fan unit are replaced.
Opening the housing
1. Remove filter.
2. Place the housing on a table.
3. Lift the plugs using a screwdriver and unscrew the screws
situated beneath (Figure Q1).

4. Unscrew the screw (Figure Q2).
5. Open the housing.
Closing the housing
1. Attach the two housing halves and screw together firmly.
2. Seal the holes with plugs (Figure Q1).

Replacing the switch

When replacing the switch, make sure no short circuits
are triggered.

Do not pull from the cables but from the cable lugs.

1. Open the housing.
2. Unplug the cable lugs from the switch in the following order
X
(Figure R): 5, 1, 7, 6, 4, 3, 2.
3. Press the holding clamps together and pull the switch away
X
to the outside.
4. Attach the switch cover to the new switch.
X
5. Align the new switch such that the »0« points towards the

LED in the off position.
X
6. Press the switch from outside into the housing until the
holding clamps snap in.
7. Fit the cable lugs to the switch in the following order
(Figure R): 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 1, 5.
8. Close the housing.

Replacing the battery
NOTICE

When replacing the battery, make sure no short circuits
are triggered.
Do not pull from the cables but from the cable lugs.
1. Open the housing.
2. Unplug cable lugs 5 and 1 from the switch (Figure S).
3. Remove the battery and dispose in accordance with the
applicable waste removal regulations.
4. Align the red cable towards the side of the switch and insert
a new battery into the device.
5. Fit cable lugs 1 and 5 onto the switch (Figure S).
6. Close the housing.
7. Charge the battery (see Chapter 3.2.1 on Page 11).
5.2.6
Replacing the fan unit
NOTICE

Do not pull from the cables but from the cable lugs.
1. Open the housing.
2. Unplug cable lugs 5 and 1 from the switch (Figure S).
3. Unplug the cable lugs of the yellow cable.
4. Unplug the cable lugs from the switch in the following order
(Figure R): 7, 4, 3.
5. Unscrew five Phillips screws and remove fan unit including
seal (Figure T).
6. Insert new fan unit with new seal.
7. First tighten all screws lightly with the screwdriver, then
tighten fully.
8. Fit the cable lugs to the switch in the following order
(Figure R): 3, 4, 7.
9. Fit the cable lugs of the yellow cable.
10. Fit cable lugs 1 and 5 onto the switch (Figure S).
11. Close the housing.
12. Check for tightness (see Chapter 5.4 on Page 14).
