3 Use
3.1

Conditions for use

The EN 529 "Instructions for the selection and use of
respirators" or the corresponding national regulations are
authoritative for the use of filter appliances. For Germany
these are the BGR 190 "Rules for the use of respirators" from
the German Federation of Institutions for Statutory Accident
Insurance and Prevention
EN 12942:1998+A1:2002+A2:2008, EN 14387:2004 and
EN 143:2000/A1:2006. The user of the filter apparatus must
be duly instructed and both physically and mentally fit to use
respirator apparatus in accordance with the appropriate
national regulation, e.g. BGI 504-26 in Germany.

The filter apparatus sets are not to be used if there is
any confusion about the purpose of their use or the
conditions in which they are to be used. During use the
following notices must be observed.
Non-observance can result in severe health injury or
even death for the user.
The ambient air
in Europe, with the exception of Holland, Belgium and UK,
must contain a minimum of 17 vol. % oxygen;
in Holland, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand and the UK
19 vol. % oxygen.
For other countries observe the national regulations!
National guidelines on the handling of respiratory
equipment must be observed (in Germany e.g. BGR 190).
When checking the conditions of use, any possibly
required protective clothing and head protection must also
be considered.
Only use purifying respirator at temperatures above 10 °C.
Temperatures below 10 °C cannot lead to acceptable
wearing conditions unless the supply air is being heated.
The type of contaminant must be known; select respiratory

Preparation

3.2.1

Charging the battery

WARNING

Explosion hazard!
Do not charge the battery in explosive environments.
Ambient temperature during charging: 10 °C to 30 °C.
1. Connect charger to charging cable (Figure A1).
2. Loosen the protective cap evenly and pull it off (Figure A2).
3. Connect charging cable to belt unit.
4. Connect charger to mains (Figure A3).
The red LED indicates that the battery is being charged
(Figure A4).

The operating voltage of the charger must match the
mains voltage.

Panorama BelAir® GC - RA
The green LED illuminates when the charging cycle is
complete.
After 14 hours the chargers switch to trickle charge, the green
LED illuminates. The battery should remain connected to the
charger until use. It will continue to be charged at reduced
output and is ready for operation at any time.

NOTICE
When charged for the first time after delivery or after
prolonged storage the battery must be charged twice:
Immediately after the first charging cycle is complete
remove the mains plug and reconnect it after a brief
pause.

Before use

Inserting the respiratory filter
WARNING
Only use Dräger respiratory filter BelAir 33 or
BelAir 55.
Do not insert a damaged filter.
The small semicircle at the belt unit and the large
semicircle at the respiratory filter must lie opposite each
other.
