Testing with stopped exhalation valve:
F 2 Pull out the exhalation valve disc and press the exhalation valve
stopper firmly on to the seat so that it clicks into place. Generate a
negative pressure of 10 mbar.
If the pressure change is less than 1 mbar after 1 minute, remove the
exhalation valve stopper and insert a new valve disc and repeat the leak
test. If not:
Underwater leak test: Immerse the test head, complete with fitted
breathing mask, in water. Generate a positive pressure of approx.
10 mbar and rotate the test head slowly underwater. Escaping air
bubbles indicate the location of any leak(s). Take the test head and
mask out of the water and repair the leak(s). Remove the exhalation
valve plug and reassemble the exhalation valve. Repeat the leak test.
After testing: Unscrew the adapter. Remove the mask from the test
head and dry if necessary. Replace the protective cap so that it clicks
into place.
Special maintenance and care
Replacing the visor:
G
Unscrew the screws and remove the helmet adapter.
H
Prise the clamping frame apart at the joins with a screwdriver,
and then pull the top and bottom halves clear. Where applicable,
remove the support plate, see "Replacing the mask connector".
Detach the old visor from the rubber frame. Check the visor: only
use visors marked with the letter "F" (Fire service). Insert the new
visor first in the upper and then in the lower half of the rubber
frame. The "F" must be at the top of the visor. The central markings
on the visor must line up with the seam on the face blank. Pull the
rubber surround to the right and left over the rim of the visor.
Moisten the outside of the rubber surround and the inside of the
clamping frame with soapy water. Press on the clamping frame,
top half first. If necessary, insert the support plate.
J
Screw the helmet adapters and clamping frame together, using
the screws and hexagon nuts supplied. Take care to assemble
correctly: the helmet adapters are marked "left" and "right". The
nut must be inserted between the cams of the lower half of the
clamping frame and the helmet adapter. The carrying strap must
now be hanging down.
Replacing the mask connector: Pull the inner mask out of the groove
of the screw ring.
K 1 Prise open the clip with a screwdriver. Remove the clip and the
parts underneath it (slip ring and support plate). Pull the mask
connector off the face blank. Fit the speech diaphragm and
inhalation and exhalation valve to the new mask connector, and
insert the connector so that the centre markings of the connector
and face blank line up. Fit the slip ring and new clip.
2 Hook the clip into place so that it is as tight as possible.
L
Push the support plate between the clip and slip ring; secure it in
the lower clamping frame and align.
K 3 Use pliers R 53 239 to squeeze the tip of the clip until the mask
connector fits tightly in the mask. Slot the inner mask into position.
Replacing the speech diaphragm or O-ring
Pull the inner mask out of the groove in the screw ring.
M
Unscrew the screw ring with socket wrench R 26 817. Turn socket
wrench around and carefully insert it in the holes of the protective
screen. Do not damage the diaphragm foil. Twist the speech
diaphragm loose and remove it. Remove the O-ring from the mask
connector with extractor R 21 519. Check the speech diaphragm
and O-ring, and replace if necessary.
Take care when reassembling: insert the speech diaphragm so that the
perforated protective cage is facing inwards towards the mask. Slot the
rim of the inner mask into the groove of the screw ring. The rim of the
inner mask must fit round the full circumference of the screw ring.
N
The centre markings on the face blank and inner mask must line
up.
Replacing the valve discs for the control valves: Pull out the old valve
discs towards the inside. Insert the stud of the new discs into the hole
from inside, and pull it towards the visor until the recess of the stud is
visible. The valve discs should make even contact with the inside
surface.
Replacing the exhalation valve disc: Remove the protective cap.
O
Grip under the edge of the valve disc and pull the holding stud out
of the hole. Clean the valve seat. Moisten the new valve disc with
water and press it into the hole until it engages. The valve disc
must make even contact all round. Refit the protective cap so that
it engages.
Replacing the inhalation valve or inhalation valve disc
P
Pull the inhalation valve out by its tab. If necessary, remove the old
valve disc and fit new disc. Press the inhalation valve into the mask
connector until it makes even contact all round. The valve disc must
not be pinched. The disc must face inwards, and the stems
outwards.
Only use original Dräger parts. Always test for leaks after servicing
and/or replacing parts.
Storage
Wipe the visor with an anti-static cloth. Pack the mask in the specially
provided bag or mask box / carry-box. Store the mask in a dry, cool and
dust-free place without deforming it in any way. Permitted storage
temperature range: –15 °C to +25 °C. Protect from exposure to direct
heat and light.
Observe DIN 7716 "Directives for storing, servicing and cleaning
rubber products".
