4.3.3
Replacing the equipment connector
1. Pull the inner mask out of the groove in the threaded ring.
2. Open the clamping ring with a screwdriver (Figure G).
3. Remove the clamping ring, slip ring and support plate.
4. Pull the equipment connector out of the mask body.
5. Fit the equipment connector with speech diaphragm and
inhalation and exhalation valves and insert the connector so that
the centre markings of the equipment connector and mask body
line up.
6. Fit the slip ring and new clamping ring. Attach the hook to ensure
the tightest possible fit of the clamping ring.
7. Push the support plate between the clamping ring and the slip ring;
fit it into the lower visor frame and align it.
8. Compress the nose on the clamping ring with pliers until the
equipment connector is securely located in the mask body.
9. Attach the inner mask.
4.3.4
Replacing the valve disk on the control valves of the
inner mask
1. Pull out the old valve disk towards the inside.
2. Insert the stud of the new disk into the hole from inside, and pull it
towards the visor until the undercut of the stud is visible. The valve
disk must have even contact with the inside surface.
4.3.5
Replacing the speech diaphragm or O-ring
1. Pull the inner mask out of the groove in the threaded ring.
2. Unscrew the threaded ring with the pin spanner.
3. Turn pin spanner over and carefully insert it in the holes of the
protective screen. Do not damage the foil on the diaphragm.
4. Turn the speech diaphragm to release it and remove it (Figure H).
5. Remove the O-ring from the connecting piece using the sealing
ring lifter. Check the speech diaphragm and O-ring, and replace if
necessary.
6. Attach the inner mask.

4.3.6
Replacing the exhalation valve disk
1. Remove the exhalation valve cover.
2. Grip under the edge of the valve disk and pull the stud out of the
hole.
3. Clean the valve seat.
4. Moisten the valve disk with water and insert it. The valve disk must
have even contact all around.
5. Refit the exhalation valve cover so that it clicks into place.
4.3.7
Replacing the inhalation valve disk
1. Pull the inhalation valve out by its tab.
2. Remove the old valve disk and fit new disk.
3. Press the inhalation valve into the connecting piece until it has
even contact all-round. The valve disk must not be pinched. The
disk must face inwards, and the stems face outwards.
4.4

Leak tests

The leak test should be performed with an appropriate test device (e.g.
the Testor or Quaestor series) and the adapter and exhalation valve
test plug.
(1) Checking leak tightness
1. Moisten the face seal and exhalation valve with water.
2. Mount the full face mask to the test head.
3. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the test
head. Inflate the test head, if necessary.
4. Seal the equipment connector with the adapter and produce a
negative pressure of 10 mbar.
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is less than
1 mbar/min. If the full face mask leaks, continue with (2).
