Troubleshooting: Lens Operation
Condition
• Lens will not turn ON • Are the batteries installed properly?
• Are the correct batteries being
used (CR2032)?
• Have you tried replacing both
batteries with new batteries, then
checked the Low Battery indicator?
• Lens shuts OFF and
• Have you tried replacing both
won't turn back ON
batteries with new batteries, then
checked the Low Battery indicator?
• Lens flickers
• Have you removed the protective
film from both sides (if applicable)
of the outer protection plate?
• Have you verified that the two
sensors on the front of the lens are
not blocked (by weld spatter, hands,
pipes, object being welded, etc.)?
• Are you using the right Speedglas
lens model? The Speedglas utility
lens is not recommended for weld-
ing processes other than MIG
(GMAW) and Stick (SMAW). See
page 5 of this instruction booklet.

Condition
• Lens flickers (cont'd)
• Are you using a Speedglas 9000V
or 9000X lens in the Auto (gold
numbers) mode and welding low
amp TIG, or are light conditions
not favorable? If so, use the Manual
(red numbers) mode as described
in this instruction booklet.
• Are you using a Speedglas 9000XF
lens in the Auto Sensitivity mode
and welding low amp TIG, or are
light conditions not favorable?
If so, use the Manual Sensitivity
mode as described in this instruc-
tion booklet.
• Lens looks "blurry"
• Have you removed the protective
film from both sides (if applicable)of
both the inner and outer protection
plates?
If you have implemented all of the above solutions and are still
having difficulty with the operation of the lens, contact your
authorized Speedglas welding distributor or contact Hornell at
